In the Olympics of course, but nevertheless a nice compliment to be given.

SportsNation John Hollinger: Wade has been the best player in the tournament, hands down. For those of you who haven't seen the games, he's been scary good and looks completely recovered from the injuries. After that I'd go LeBron, Bosh (best defensive player by a mile), Kobe and CP3.

If his play carries over into the season the Raptors are set to make some big time noise this year. Jermaine is going to lock it down and if Bosh brings it too, watch out.

Where was this energy, intensity, and physicality during the NBA season? He'd just try and avoid fouls at all costs for the Raps now all of a sudden hes playing superb defence. We all know he has it in him, but is it his conditioning or something thats holding him back from playing both sides of the ball more than effectively? His defence has been a joke since his rookie year.

Perhaps being on a team where he isnt relied on to be Mr. Everything and he has other guys he can count on defensively to make plays aswell helps a bit? Along with a better defensive scheme and a better overall coach.

I'd say having guys around him that can back him up. Guarding the pick and roll requires more than just one guy doing the work. And he has shown intensity and physicality, but certainly not like he's shown now while he's had the bad heel or worn the knee brace. I think it's pretty easy to figure that one out.

Theres that, but theres also many plays where he avoids fouls at all costs and just lets his man go by him trying to avoid contact at all costs. If he doesnt stop that this year then there is definately something very very wrong. His individual D needs to go from cellar to above average this year for us to win a round, not to mention his help d which was average at best the first 3 qtrs, where in the 4th qtr he seeemd to step it up a bit in a lot of games. He should be able to do it all game now that he has JO beside him.

Yes, Bosh in Olympics has a whole different role. Did he get one jumpshot in all these games? No, its just defence, rebound and around the rim focus.

there is more to defence than pick and roll ... in international games, where that's the bread and butter against team USA, he's facing a lot of that. In NBA there are other areas where he is lacking. Plus he's playing twice as many minutes, which is a major difference.

Well now he has JO and that might help him and show the same type of defense he is playing in the Olympics

Bingo - that's where carrying less of a load, with JO alongside him, should really help.

For anyone who really wants to think that it's the difference in coaching - look at how bad Bosh played the Pick and Roll under the same coach K two years ago. If anything Sam has helped him improve over those two years.

Actually I would say that Bosh did start to show this kind of form last season. Believe it or not the guy has not peaked yet. I'd say he's probably starting to get close to that now though.

because usa was burnt so many times on pick and roll defense in the past - it was their achile's heel for the past decade. The need for a big capable of defending that was greater than the need for a shutdown defender, in a game that's not star based. It's great to have a guy like kobe being able to shutdown a star guard, but when you're playing teams with 10 guys of more or less equal value, it helps more to have a guy that can defend a system of playing ... I think

[whine]But Kobe is a God. If anyone's name is even mentioned, then it should be clear that Kobe is better than that named person in every way imaginable. When Obama made those 3 pointers in Iraq, the news anchors should have said that Kobe would have made those shots, and made Iraq into the world's greatest tourist destination. When Phelps won all those races, somebody should have said that he was lucky that Kobe was busy with basketball, because otherwise Phelps might as well just be peeing in the pool if he was going to have to race Kobe.[/whine]
