Hollinger: 12 disapointments so far this season

Quote:
Toronto's $20 million man isn't off to a good start. While the rest of the Raptors are ripping the nets to the tune of the league's top offensive efficiency mark, Jarrett hasn't done Jack. He is shooting 34.5 percent form the floor and sports a horrid 5.48 PER though the first eight games, despite playing the combo guard role off the bench that seems perfectly suited to his skills.

Toronto needs to hope it's just a cold snap, as it has four years invested in Jack, 26. One wonders whether he'll be the latest in a long line of victims of the Curse of the Midlevel Exception.

We're 8 games in and we're labelling disappointments? Fantastic!

I really don't think Jack has been as bad as his numbers dictate. He has done some good things out there especially in our wins. He will not continue to shoot 34% from the field the rest of the year.

Why not? We labelled him a disapointment after 3 games.

Hell how many threads have we had where someone called for Calderon to be traded? It is what it is. Plus this is Hollinger, what do you expect? lol

If anyone thought Jack was a good shooter, then you haven't watched him. He's a slasher. And sometimes, he's the only guy willing to attack the rim on some possessions so while his shot has been terrible everything else he's provided has been what I expected. So, I don't know why anyone here would call him a disappointment.

Secondly, people who have called for Calderon to be traded are going based on information gathered over a year (this year and last) therefore there is more credence to those claims (ridiculous as well).

I agree he's never been a good shooter, especially from 3pt range. But he's a career 44% shooter and he's shooting 34%. That is disapointing for sure. But it's early and i expect him to be a 40% shooter by the end of the season and be around 30-33% from three point range (he's at 32% now).

I could care less what his career numbers are.

I see a guy who attacks and that's it.

If I base my opinions soley on former career numbers, then well, I should stick to baseball where such expectations can be judged based on prior career numbers.

is this guy mentally challenged i think he is overexagurating...what was hedo supposed to do average 40+ a night or something? he is playing good right now dont forget who provided the steals in the final minutes of the chicago game and he also averaging 14.5 ppg, 4.8 rebounds, 3.4 ....thats not really diasspointing at all if this is him adjusting to the team then imagine how he will be when he fully adjusts...Hedo is a player who will make u win in so many unnoticible ways its unbelievable if u noticed he is providing key shots and assists in crunch time but i guess this hollinger idiot did not a watch a single Raptors game...

Many of us are not. Several of us never wanted him to be kept over Ford.

Yeah, but that stems from far earlier ideas.

Frankly, neither have been impressive the past year, so meh.

True, but he's not shooting very well. The main thing that dispoints me though is he's only getting 2.8apg while turning the ball over 1.9 times per game in 25mpg. He simply turns the ball over way too much so far. Alot of this could be atributed to him playing with a new team, and that fact is it's very early. He has been as most of the team has been, inconsistent. Patience is needed which is a difficult thing to ask for these days.

Much of that can be attributed to the fact that as you mentioned he's playing with a new team, plus playing with players of limited offensive capabilities. Also, not having a SG who he can dump off to relieve pressure also hurts his play as Belinelli is typically looking to get open for a shot (a la Rip Hamilton) and Wright isn't a good ball handler.

jack has been horrendous

he's made terrible passes, took bad shots, hasn't been good on d, basically i've got the impression he's been hitting the blunt before the game cause of how he's been playing, worst part is he has no intensity always the same facial expression like he could care less

Can't really argue that

I just dont' want to be lumped in with anyone that thinks Calderon is a bad player. I dont' think that...i've always thought he's not the right TYPE of player for this team and until we change our roster or he changes his game/attitude i'll continue to feel that way.

You do realize who the article is about though right? It's about Jack and not Hedo. The post I quoted you began speaking about Hedo not Jack, hence my reply.

So again, what are you talking about?
