![]() "The Toronto Sun reports that Jose Calderon (foot) may be looking at a split role with Jerryd Bayless when he returns from his foot injury. “He’ll have to earn his minutes. They will all be fighting for it. That’s the one thing about this team, we have depth. When Jose comes back everybody is going to be in a little bit of a fight and we’re going to have to play the guys who are helping us win.” Bayless scored 31 points with seven assists and five rebounds on Saturday in Detroit in a 120-116 win against the Pistons. "
I got this off CBS sports. Welcome back PG controversy. |

![]() This better not be true. To me this is Jay's moment of this season. How he handles this issue makes or breaks him with me. He's had two chances in the past to do the right thing and failed them both(Sam was part of the first one)... he has to give Calderon his starting job back for the good of the team. As much as I dont' want Jose starting for us, he's useless when he doesn't know his role and loses his confidence.

![]() i think you misunderstand what he said.
he talked about the wings position and wright in particular. so it's not about jose and bayless, but about DD, kleiza, weems, wright and barbosa. thy need to earn the minutes. wacth the interview and you will see it. |

![]() I wouldn't mind bayless starting a few games here and there to ease em into the role, hes clearly the future as of right now, not caldy... But I must admit, Caldy has been playing alright this year. But as we all knew, he'd get hurt.

![]() It has to be Jose's team for the foreseeable future. You trade Jack to send a message to Jose, who was nearly traded to Charlotte. Only to rebuke by possibly playing a guy who's over the moon about his role on the team already, as a guy coming in off the bench.
Psychologically, its a total mistake. It isn't like starting Bayless makes us contenders. |

![]() an yone pushing to start all young players must realize you can't let a team go rudderless. Jose is actually a pefect fit for this team right now. Eventually he will be overtaken, hopefully by Bayless, but that isn't for another year at the absolute earliest and likey 2-3 years.
Barbosa and Jose take the pressure off Bayless and DD..... |

jose has done this for you this season? not sure which Raptors season you are watching, but he has played very well most of the season and again leads the league in turnover/assist ratio, which is THE stat you want a pg to lead a young team with.. ball control is critical for this young squad and any game we have lost by 10 or less points can be directly related to stupid turnovers by our young guys, not jose! watch jose play with a lot less hate and you will see a guy who competes and makes his team better... that is what a pg should do... ![]() |

![]() Jose has great games, and then his body mysteriously falls apart. It's very tiring and they need to end the cycle. I don't care what they do this season, but they need to bring in a top notch pg by next season, unless Bayless becomes that guy by then.

![]() Main reason Caldy should start when back is to increase his trade value. Sure he is a nice influence for the young players but he isn't worth his contract and he needs to go.

![]() See I don't know about that. He has his moments, but Caledron over dribbles the ball, is too safe, throws it to guys like Evans (when he was playing) and Amir as if he thinks he's still playing with Bosh. People like to point to his Assist-TO ratio but that is as much a product of his less dynamic, conservative play. His game is too predictable and his D while improved to a degree still is quite shitty. All that being said, Jose is our best option to start, which is soooo sad.

![]() calderon also enhances the communication on the court, offensively and defensively, something that cannot be seen on the stat sheet. how many times have we seen barbosa and bayless throw the ball to Bargnani and andrea is not even looking. Calderon may be predictable, but he knows his shit and knows how to perform properly in certain times. I like bayless too, keep em both, bayless brings that fear into teams defenses where they have to clog the paint in order to him not to score (probably learned that from chris paul) making open looks from the 3 and slashers like barbosa, amir, davis and derozan a clear lane to score. I said before, 2 different types of playing styles from two PGs is healthy for a team, this PG controversy is invented by the fans
