Default Here come more of the same rumors about Maurizio

New jersey Nets targeting Toronto Raptors exec Maurizio Gherardini to replace Rod Thorn

The Nets are targeting Toronto executive Maurizio Gherardini to replace outgoing president Rod Thorn, league sources told the Daily News Monday.

Gherardini, who is second-in-command in Toronto to team president Bryan Colangelo, has been linked to the Nets in previous months because of his ties to two Russian executives who work for new owner, Milkhail Prokhorov. One of the execs, Andrei Vatutin, is expected to be involved in the new front office, as Thorn steps down July 15.

Does it really matter if he goes? What has he done with the Raptors except make us draft Bargs, and sign a bunch of other useless European players. Its weird how two supposed executive geniuses, BC and Maurizio, haven't done shit all since joining the Raptors.

Maurizio seems like a good dude who knows a lot about international ball, but pardon me if i seem a bit meh at the prospect of him leaving.

There’s a report circulating that Maurizio Gherardini is a candidate to take Rod Thorn’s job, but we’re told by an impeccable earpiece in Toronto that he’s not among the dozen candidates that Mikhail Prokhorov and basketball confidant Sergey Kushchenko have collected dossiers on.

Too bad, he’d be a good candidate.

But there are a lot of good ones.

“I’ve been asked for input, but our owners are very into what transpires in the NBA and who is and who isn’t or should be candidates for this position,” Thorn said. “They’re very well informed.”

So if Maurizo goes to NJ, does that mean we've seen the last of any European draftees?
