Hedo Turkoglu: I Need the ball more

Quote:
"The way I play, I've never been a selfish guy," said Turkoglu after the game. "I'm just trying to play as hard as I can, and get myself going.

"If I have the ball, I can be more creative with it ... For me, I'm running on the side and expecting to be a spot-up guy - you know, it's hard for me."

In other words, Turkoglu was used to having the offence run through him in Orlando, and that's happening less in the land of Jose Calderon and Jarrett Jack. So while he is actually shooting a higher percentage than he did with the Magic - 42.5%, versus 41.3% on last year's Finals team in Orlando - Turkoglu feels like he is watching too much, waiting for the ball, and then trying a little too often to be a player that he is not.

"I can't really go and grab the ball from Jose or Jack's hands," said the soft-spoken forward. "I respect those guys - they're great players. And they're used to running the team too.

"It's new team, new coach, new system, new players. But it's been three months - I can't keep telling what I did in the past. So I want people to know that I'm limited, too. I try to do my best, but you can be just limited."

I'll say this, today he really didn't get to do much withy the ball, and while Jose was out he was getting alot more touches and was able to be much more creative and was turning a corner. Today though he was horrendous (by far our worse player) and there is no excuse for his shooting today at all.

He is right, of course. Considering how little our two PGs create for others (create, not get an assist credited, not the same thing), the offence should indeed be run through him more often, while those two run by the screens trying to free themselves for the open J.

Turkoglu is just as gifted a passer as Jose or Jack, but he is also taller and thus is able to see the court better and, if need be, finish at the rim easier.

I heard those comments on the post-game show. It's pretty tough to see. He's right, and yet he has to be able to find his way without just feeling limited.

So maybe Banks is the perfect guy to play alongside Hedo in the fourth quarter anyway.

Now, that's not a bad idea, albeit a controversial one. Since Jack doesn't look any better than Jose containing quick point guards and since all a PG playing alongside Turk would have to do is defend his position and hit an open three, why not?

I wouldn't say the fourth, but I would manage the mins that way that Josť and Hedo never sit on the bench together. And take the ball out of Jack's hands more. He did well with Hedo when Josť was out. Now, idk, perhaps his role is less secure, and it's like he wants to show he can dominate the ball too. While I really liked how he could penetrate of a Hedo pass or hit the spot up j. Often a much better option than from setting himself up to penetrate. those are also more his strengths than creating for others so I'd instruct JJ to pass it to Hedo after bringing it up like 3 out of every 4 possessions.

9ast and 0 to's is darn good for the worst player on the team. No excuse for his shooting?..He had a poor outing yes, but taking nine shots and making two of them is far from inexcusable.

Get this man the ball. The blueprint has already been laid out by Orlando. Hedo basically handled more than Jameer/Rafer, and that should be the case here as well. Ship Calderon for a vending machine or two and let Hedo sermonize, alongside Banks!

triano doesnt know what to do with turk. This goes to show how incompetent triano is. I've been saying it all year long, let turkish jordan handle the rock more often.

He isn't going anywhere nore should he at this point, period!

BC isn't gonna make two big deals in two concsecutive seasons (JO-Turk) and then trade them both halfway through each respective seasons. It isn't gonna happen, this team needs more stability, especially if they're gonna keep Bosh. This team is not done from being constructed, people need to calm down.

Not both, but maybe one of them.

Turk, Jack, Jose, Beli..........alot of players that can create for others. If one of the PG's goes, the main one that would benifit would be Turkoglu.

I think Triano should watch some tapes of Hedo in the playoffs and learn to use him properly. I highly doubt Hedo was useless when he played in Orlando

Turk is not a bad player, he is just being misused by Triano. BC brought Turk to Canada, not so he can be a spot-up shooter, but so can be our point-forward on the floor like he was in Orlando. Turk is not just the best creator on the team, he is one of the best creators in the league and he deserves the role of our primary facilitator. I thought when BC acquired Turk that he and Jose both needing the ball in their hands to be effective was going to be a problem, and I'm not surprised - albeit disappointed - to see that come to fruition. I guarantee you guys this is going to continue to be a problem and BC won't put up with it for long. I predict either Jose or Hedo is going to be traded any time between tomorrow and the trade deadline. In fact, you can quote me on that. The question is, who is BC most loyal to? we'll see. Personally, I think Jose's days in Toronto are numbered, despite is decent play as of late. BC is known to be a big Turk fan.

I just want to add that when BC signed Turk, he compared him to Steve Nash. I seriously think BC is going to be very upset that Turk feels he is being misused, and I expect this to be dealt with either via trade or a talk with the coaching staff.
