Default Hedo Turkoglu

Despite the nice showing from Hedo today, do you think the Raptors would have been a good or even better team had they spent the money in the offseason on other, less-talented, players? For example, consider the scenario:

We go out and sign CJ Miles, Keep Delfino, traded someone to detroit for Amir, made a few other low key moves, etc.

I mean, Hedo is doing alright, but in 36 minutes he's not doing as much as people seem to think he is. 14 pts, 4 assists, 5 rebounds. I'm sure many players, average players, could do the exact same. And in fact, Hedo is taking some touches away from Jose, who could have many more assists.

I love Hedo, don't get me wrong, he is a great creator, but for what we payed for him he isn't doing terribly well. Just a thought.

So I pose the question:::::::: Tell me how you think Hedo has done this year?

And

Do you think we REALLY need this guy? Or could we be doing the same with some lesser talented players?

Hes a star, legit starter at 3, a mismatch for other teams and an impact player
Look how Delfino is working out for Bucks

We got Amir amd Sonny Weems from Milwaukee for Delfino.

And, we'd still have a huge holes at multiple postions and a bunch of bit players.

Kid of sounds like last year, no? This team needed to improve it's overall talent, not add another handful of not ready for primetime players.

The Hedo signing also enbaled us to get Wright and George and then flip the latter for Beli. It also enabled us to use the MLE and get Jose a much improved back up.

Hedo does much more than you could ever see from the stat sheet. I think that it was money well spent.

so true ! We almost beat the Suns on their home court ! If Hedo made that shot omg... But since he didn't make that shot it doesn't mean he should get traded or the deal was horrible.

I'm aware of the phenomenon...what confuses me is that each person that comes here, uses stats as his only measuring stick and gets embarassed hasn't caused the phenomenon to lose momentum

it is all about american sport culture..everytime i watch a game, i see incredibly useless statistics on the screen..it's nothing but visual pollution..

at least basketball is fair..baseball and american football are insufferable..

Way too early to give a conclusion on anything but the last three games or so he's looked very hurt. I appreciate the courage because sometimes he looks like he could barely run let alone play in a high-tempo NBA game. He played excellent last night and came through many times, unfortunately lost his handles in the dying moments of the game and couldn't get the shot he wanted but as I said it's far too early to play the " what if" game.

Hedo is in some pain, but playing through it. The signing was all about being a big game player in the free agency market as much as the player.

He is also 30 y/o....he go all out until Feb/March. He knows all about saving for the playoffs.

The only move this summer i would like changed is using the MLE on Jack. I would have rather drafted a PG and use the MLE on a FA SG. Even though i don't know who at this point, i'd have to look at the FA list from the summer.

The Hedo Turkoglu move was certainly the right one and he's already hit clutch shots for us and is playing through an injury, getting us 20pts last night. I'm very happy having him starting at SF.

turkoglu was def the right decision...he creates alot of problems for opposing defences.

that being said tho, doesnt he seem a step slow? like before his injury, i was thinking that he doesnt look as fast as he used to. he takes some reall tough shots lol

I like what he brings to the table.
Despite being relatively beat up at times (fatigue at the start of the season, hip now) he has played great.

we had to either sign marion or do a S&T for a highly paid FA (over MLE), or else we would have lost our exceptions. Marion asked for one too many years, I don't think the salary was the problem. Either way, so far hedu is earning his money.

No, this strategy never works. There's only 5 spots on the court at once, and the team with the most talented to guys usually wins.

Hedo has started slowly, but he's still shooting 3's and distributing the ball. His clutch shots at the end of the game put us in position to win - some scrub we got on the end of our bench isn't going to do that consistently.

Plus we had enough role players if we didn't do the Hedo trade.
