Heat Interested in Calderon?

Look for the Heat to make an offer this summer to Jose, but as expected the Raptors will likely match it or at least we hope they do. :(

damn right we're gonna match any offer.
but that being said, watch the heat be complete assholes, and try to fuck us. they'll offer a HUGE amount, and we'll be forced to match it and in turn destroy our bank account in the process. in one fell swoop our FA signings for the summer will be done.

They aren't even a threat. MLE for Jose? He's going to get paid much more than that.

Every team is interested in good free agents. It's just that salary, etc. all need to match out which they often don't.

Isn't the MLE only something like 5.5 million per season (or something to that effect)? Yeah, Colangelo and company will have no problems matching that offer. Even if someone offers Jose 8 mil per, I still see us matching. Some might say that 16 million is a lot for two point guards, but if you wer think about it, top teir point guards get that much PER season themselves. So to spend 16 million on point guards would not be hard to swallow, since we see that they're (TJ and Jose) the engine that drives this team and makes everything work.

Yes the MLE has crept up from about 4.5 million a few seasons ago to the 5-6M range.

Only two or three teams can even offer Jose above the MLE aside from us next season:

Charlotte, Memphis, possibly Seattle (as it stands their payroll is $48M for next yera; I'm not sure what the cap will be).

Agree.

Although if Marion chooses to get out of the contract, they can thow more money. :(

The Heat are really the only ones I'm worried about, if Marion goes then they have tons of cash.

However, while losing Jose would probably make me cry for three weeks straight, it wouldn't be the end of us or anything. If Ukic pans out, we'd still be pretty set at PG.

But yeah, when the FA days are near I'm gonna be itching in pain until we resign him.

marion doesn't opt out, not unless he's in his right mind, and they can't offer more than their cap-space allows, so I see very little danger there. Now, if they were to offer us Marion for TJ, Delfino and Humphries, that would be something to discuss. They would cover 2 positions with quality players and if they draft a big guy, they could have a very competitive team. We would get the big time rebounder we need, and marion still has plenty of gas for years to come. Even if he opts out the next season, we get lots of cap-space and the ability to sign anybody we want ...
