Raptors Have we seen the last of Jose Calderon in a Raps uniform?

Since he's been shut down for the remainder of the season and so many changes likely on the horizon this summer for this team is Jose going to be back next season or have we seen the last of Ocho in a Raptors uniform. He does have an expiring contract after this season and his value will never be higher.

So what do you think, back or gonzo?

I think we have bigger holes everywhere else that can't be ingored and the only way he is gone is if we can sign a masssssssive upgrade UFA. Like Deron bascially. But there's so many UFAs at PG, that if he was going to be traded and if it was part of the plan, then it should have happened at the deadline already.

This mofo has 9 lives in this uniform so i'm guessing we'll hold onto him one more season and by christmas he'll blow out his right hammy. But i still voted traded/amnestied, wishful thinking.

If he's starting next year then BC failed in the offseason.

Jose should be a backup PG for us on day 1 of next year. And I hope he has a similar type of impact as Andre Miller off the bench for DEN. Playing 20-26 mpg and providing leadership, and being one of the best PGs coming off the bench in the NBA.

Yeah, i still say we need a new starting PG/SF or SG (depending on the best player available to bring in)

The rest of the players brought in should be depth players. Dragic/Gordon would be ideal.

Here's a thought, i read somwhere that Indiana is really impressed with Hill and say he'll be starting from here on going into the playoffs. Would you guys be interested in Darren Collison if he became available?

Nope. Collison is a run of the mill PG. Average. We need above average.

This is what I'm saying.

I really hope we can get a very good PG and keep Jose as a backup.

I don't think anyone can deny this guys talent and effectiveness when healthy.

Keep him and extend him on a cheaper contract and let him retire with a championship as a raptor

Keep Jose as a backup and let him finish his career as a Rap! And when our regular starter goes down maybe Jose can step in

According to my plans, he will be backing up Deron next season and for another 4-5 years after.

Seriously, Jose has to retire a Raptor and contribute a jersey to those rafters.

Regarding this thread, I've always been a JC fan, was before he got here, and I still feel he's a great PG and leader for this team. It always amazes sometimes how fans are always quick to want to be rid of him. JC gives the Raps the great ability to wait to address the pg issue for another year if the team has too. However, I actually really like JC's game - IMO he's really come into his own and I would rather the team focus on the SG and SF spots more this draft and FA summer than pg, (yes of course, if the right deal comes along...).

Sometimes this board becomes so enamored with youth and this 'need' to get younger all the time that maybe the team might already have the answer.

I don't necessarily need someone that much younger (mid-late 20's )....but we've never done anything with him as our starting PG, he'll be 32 next season and his stock has never been higher. So as a rebuilding team should we not cash in on an aging player that will only decline in value? At the very least he will not get more valuable on the trade market. He's in a defensive system and sorry, but he still struggles at that end and he has flaws in his game and yes i have to bring it up, he's still injury prone despite being relatively healthy this season.

Testify.

That's what I'm saying. And you could add in PF in Bargs/JV play centre and you can upgrade from Ed.

(and yes I know some of you people think JVs going to get 35 mpg but its not gonna happen 1st year he's a long way away fomr that).
