Here's what Hollinger had to say about Adams:

But he was primed to be a very effective energy guy off the bench, essentially a 6-foot-4-inch version of the Knicks' Renaldo Balkman. In his rookie year after he was New Jersey's second-round choice in 2006, Adams shot 55.6% from the field and averaged an impressive-for-a-guard 6.1 rebounds per 40 minutes. He can't shoot from outside, but his running and energy were effective enough that he still averaged a point every three minutes, which is decent production for a reserve.

All told, his Player Efficiency Rating (PER, my per-minute rating of a player's statistical effectiveness) of 12.8 was solid for a reserve, especially one in his rookie season — and especially one competing with the likes of Wright (8.2) and Bernard Robinson (7.8) for playing time.

But don't feel bad for Adams — some smart team will nab him real fast, probably for much more than the Nets were scheduled to pay him. Instead, feel bad for Kidd and Carter, who just lost one of the few potentially productive supporting players for this coming season.

And most of all feel bad for Nets fans, who now must lament that their team gave up their remaining space under the luxury tax to sign a fading backup center and effectively traded up one of their most promising young players to make the deal. It's just the latest glaring example of Thorn's inability to surround his stars with the talent necessary to return this team to the conference's elite, and I'm not sure he can make enough big-picture moves to undo the damage.

Seems everyone NOT in toronto on a messageboard likes Adams.

Hell Thriller over at EB was talking like I was a monkey for liking the move.

I don't get guys.

So many posters act as if they know things about this sport, yet are completely ignorant to the basic principals involved with trying to build a team.
Its sad.

i'm not huge on adams myself. he's undersized with no handles. he could be a good hustle player, but all i remember from him in zona was being a jumper.

Colangelo does not know how to build a championship team. Case in point PHX SUNS. But no one knows what he is thinking, hopefully he gets his first ring with raps.

I'm guessing you're joking, since the Suns have been a championship team for the past 4 seasons. Unless, of course, you are only counting teams that actually end up winning the title, in which case there are about 6 or 7 GMs in the last 30 years that "know how to build a championship team" ...

But have they won a ring yet?
I still do not think Hassan Adams is the answer to all raptor wing problems with all due respect. PHX is a contender, but not a champion. BC has done a good job thus far but he needs to stop signing these no name guys because you are not always going to find jamario moon.

He took a mediocre team and in a matter of two years made them a 50+ win team and a contender. If they're in the east they make it to the finals probably at least twice.

Jerry Krause put together the Chicago Bulls in the late 80s and 90s. But he's widely regarded as a doofus when it comes to putting together a team. Does that make him a good GM?

And really, GMs NEED to make these types of signings because it's these type of small tiered, low risk contracts that, if they have an impact or valuable to your team's salary structure.
