Default Has DD peaked and trade him?

I read this a fair bit here so lets discuss. The theory is trade DD because he's at an all time high. do you trade him for the same "assumed" value because he's at an all time high.

Lets assume you get 100% equal value for him and let just assume its this summer and not now to avoid any talk about the playoffs and this season. Do you trade him and if you do is it for a better fit now or future growth 3 years away?

Edit; aw fuck, can a mod move it to the raps forum pls.

I actually. Was just thinking about this that if we have the chance to get jabari parker or Andrew Wiggins for our first and DD do we do it to get q legitimate. Three and move Ross to his natural position

If we can get Jabari or Embiid for our Demar + 2014 First + NY 2016 First, then by all means do it. But I can't see any scenario where that would play out. Maybe if the Lakers get a top 3 pick and want to make a big push next year, especially with all their free agency plans?

Yeah, trade an all star who's ridiculously durable and constantly improving on a great bang for your buck long term contract AND 2 first round picks for a rook who's never played a game in the NBA.

I'd call for MU's head if that happened

Make up your fucking mind lol. We got people trying to lose now that we're third in the East?

There's no way we get a worse record than some of the other teams in the East at this point. You keep this guy and Lowry.

Joey clearly states in the OP that he's talking about a decision made NEXT SUMMER, not now. After we claimed homecourt advantage and suffered a second round defeat.

The question is, if we trade DD, will Lowry still re-sign? And will Lowry be the best option out there? There's way too many if's surrounding this thread, I know it's all for fun but I don't get the use in discussing these matters at this point in the season. Just enjoy our current group of players while you can, and be careful what you wish for.

Our recent success has put longterm thinking on the back burner, something pro-tankers have warned us for repeatedly, and they are right in a way.

There's no harm in thinking about what will happen next summer, the question is if you want to concern yourself with those matters while our team plays the best ball in 10 years, maybe ever???

You wouldn't get a call back.

But on topic, if we dealt DeMar it'd hopefully be to Phoenix since they have a ton of assets, especially picks.

Same here. Sure Wiggins and Embiid have potential, but guess what, it's not a guarantee that they will live up to there potential. Also no team is stupid enough to pay us a top pick for Derozan. Get it out of your head people, we are not getting a top pick in this years draft so live with it.

This would be up for debate if we were losing next season, but a winning team with two all stars?

I personally think Demar is the best he's going to get and if we give up two first and a young all star we could net a true franchise player in this draft because truth be told our team is built really nice from the defensive perspective add Wiggins. To that and we could be real championship contenders if Wiggins really does turn out to be the next tmac type player at least

Makes no sense aye.. and how would trading him and getting Parker benefit the raps. DD 24 years old and an All-Star with the rite contract, why move him..

Silly

Let's be honest here, Demar is only 24, ACTUALLY enjoys Toronto, and is most likely not going to fuck us over, and he's proved everyone wrong each season as he has continued to improve when people say that he has reached his peek. Most teams only trade their all-stars when they are about to tank, or when the star demands out of the city. Neither of these cases are happening. Why trade away our all-star to pick up a player who will take a few season to get to where Demar is at now. Seems like we just wasted that last few years on developing Demar if that's the case, and who knows, this new guy we draft may want to walk the first opportunity he gets.

Thx. Also Kirby, don't assume just because Joey posted this, that Joey would like to trade DD.

I just have a lot of trouble grasping the idea that he has peaked. In a lot of ways he's just starting to realize his potential. That doesn't make him untouchable, but there surely is no rush to capitalize on his value.

At the same time, winning has increased the value of everyone on this team. It's not all about one guy. Masai needs to keep operating on his own terms and not do anything that strays from the bigger vision. The party that comes into negotiations without any signs of desperation usually gets what they want, and often a little bit more. As long as they keep moving foward, patiently, but with the big goal always in mind, then they will be far better off than letting circumstances determine everything by trying to guess where a certain player's peak value may or may not lie and depend on such guesses to guide their actions.

Derozan could put up superstar numbers and people will still want him traded... heck even Ross has higher potential than DD, so why not keep both of them

This

There is no need to trade him, but If Masai would be able to get his hands on a pick/player in the lottery that he really likes than I think he should do it. DD is very likely going to get better (defensively hopefully), but that is not the reason why we shouldn't trade him IF there would be a good offer. DD's potential to get better is what really drives up his trade value.
MU is not a fool he would not let other GM's to lowball him
