Default Haffa?

What happened to Hoffa Ara˙jo? Should we sign him back because he might give the team some toughness and swagger...

As well as pull the team's overall IQ level about three miles under the average IQ.

...basketball IQ, basketball IQ.

Toughness and swagger? Do you actually remember anything about Rafael Araujo? He may have been huge, but he wasn't "tough" in the sense of the word.

now now... he was pretty tough. I remember him not backing down to Shaq. that takes some balls for sure.

Mind you, all he had was physical strength. He wasn't really a basketball player.

and he couldn't cut it in Europe either.

Silly as it may seem, one of my pet peeves is when people call him "Hoffa".

It's "Haffa".

BTW, he was a tough dude, not very smart, but tough...

yes. Haffa was a take on the pronounciation of his first name Rafael: Rafa Haffa Haffael.

I think maybe they think his nickname is inspired by Jimmy Hoffa.

I'll always remember Haffa for his two good, back to back games we all thought put him over the hump. Golden State and the Lakers. He sent Richardson to the floor the first night and I forget who the second...but double digit points and near 10 rebounds in consequitive games ... but alas that was it

I went to BYU when "Hoffa" played there and everybody called him "Hoffa", not "Haffa".

Well I've never seen it print/press as anything but Haffa.

Including his wikepedia page and BYU's website.

No, I'm from Canada and went to school in the states. I didn't get a signed Hoffa jersey- too bad because it would be worth SOOO much. However, I do have a good Araujo story. I worked as a custodian at the Marriott Center for three years when I was there, and while Araujo was there we were asked by the team to install some extra air fresheners in the locker room. The reason? Apparently Araujo's dumps were too much for the rest of the team to handle.

Okay, so it is spelt Haffa, but pronounced the same as Hoffa. I thought you were talking about pronunciation only. And yes, I am one of ones who spells it Hoffa, but I will spell it the correct way from now on- I never even noticed it was spelt Haffa.

I remember watching that draft and not knowing what to do. It was exciting to see somebody from my school, not a basketball power at all, get drafted. But at the same time there was a sinking feeling in my gut because my favorite team is the one who drafted him. I believe the draft was on TNT that year and after Stern announced the pick, there was a pause from the commentators and I think Tom Tolbert finally broke the silence with, "whaaatt?" It was pretty funny.

what a coincindence, he stunk on the court as well and it was a little too much for raps fans to handle.

....
