I always find it odd when some people say this kind of stuff. MU is in the business of aquiring assets right now for future moves. It's as if we have DD/Ross and we don't need anyone else on the wing. Whatever happened to wanting depth? Remember how envious we were last season of Denver and their depth?

Lowry (re-signed)
Derozan
Ross
Barnes
Valanciunas
Patterson
2014 1st round pick
2015 1st round pick
2016 two 1st round picks

^ All assets that can help in aquiring top tier type of talent. Add to that whoever we may sign this summer and we'd be in good shape to make moves in the future. This move imo makes us deeper now and better in the future. And Barnes can also play spme PF.

Maybe try to get a third team involved in order to land a PF, but it could mean losing Ross. For instance:

Golden State trades Harrison Barnes (TOR), Jermaine O'Neal (DEN), and possibly a filler
GS receives Amir Johnson (TOR) and Randy Foye (DEN).

Denver trades Kenneth Faried (TOR) and Randy Foye (GS).
Denver receives Terrence Ross (TOR) and Jermaine O'Neal (GS).

Toronto trades Amir Johnson (GS) and Terrence Ross (DEN).
Toronto receives Harrison Barnes (GS), Kenneth Faried (DEN), and filler from GS.

I don't see how it makes us deeper since you're trading one rotation player for another.

If Ujiri is as big on chemistry as he says, I just can't really see him making this deal. Our roster becomes unbalanced.

Lowry/Vasquez/Stone
Derozan/Ross/Fields
Ross/Barnes/Salmons
Patterson/Barnes/TH
Valanciunas/Hayes/TH

^ How is that unbalanced? Especially considering Salmons is likely gone in 4 months. Btw, i don't think Barnes is going anywhere anyway.

I really love Amir, so I'm kinda torn on this deal. My biggest concern would be how it affects the team chemistry, but it does net us a solid SF prospect, along with some extra cap space (as long as no long term deals are coming our way).

I would do the deal in a heartbeat. Its all about the future. You may have your SF for the future. It may hurt us in the short-term, but we get a building piece.

Sounds like the same BS that was spouted when we traded for Gay.

You can't play Barnes at the 4 - we would get destroyed. There is a reason GS is looking to shop him for a PF.

I would do it. Barnes has a solid upside, and our logjam at the pf spot is a good enough reason.

What I meant is that it doesn't make us better for this year, since Barnes is more of a potential and not yet a proven commodity. Going into the playoffs this team will miss Amir greatly.

But Barnes did have an incredible postseason run last year....

Mehhh, he'd just as likely to be limping around on a bum ankle. And it isn't like we're winning a championship. lol

If all of a sudden the playoffs isn't important I would rather give them Lowry.

Absolutely! If all of a sudden a playoff run isn't important to you, why the hell do we need to gamble on Lowry who most likely won't be back next year? Might as well get Barnes for Lowry. (GSW won't do it though).

If we do end up trading Amir for Barnes, I end up seeing Ross being traded for another piece himself. Ross wasnt as effective coming off the bench and his development will surely hurt once being booted back to the bench. Just like how Barnes has been fair ineffective off the bench .

However if we do get Barnes every Raptors fan will be all smiles. Then who is next on target Ross + for Monroe?

Not important? Just saying, we could just as easily win a round with Patterson + TH at PF and have Barnes as an asset going forward. Besides GSW don't need a PG that bad to give up Barnes for. And Lowry >>>>AJ

Not worth it. Amir is absolutely a starting power forward. Barnes would fight directly with Ross for minutes.

No freaking way. Get over your hard on for Barnes. It's a Colangelo move.
