Default The Grooming of Bargs

Maybe going out on a limb here but......

When Bargs was a rookie, Colangelo brought in Rasho-A tough, hardnosed very solidly fundamental team player who plays very solid defense.

The result was an overall improvement in Bargs adapting to the center spot and and improvement in p&r play.

Next, BC brought in JO-tremendous shotblocker, solid man to man defender with a good back to the basket offense.

The result was an improvement in Bargs shotblocking, man to man defense, low post moves and positioning on defense.

Now, BC is bringing in Hedo-a 6'10" wing player who can even play sg who is clutch and can create for himself and others.

The result...............

Maybe this is a bit of a stretch, but knowing that Bargs is definately BC project and is going to become a pretty special player, I cant help but think that some moves are not only being done in an attempt to improve the team, but are also being done in turn to improve Bargs.

I thought this was going to be about his hair

I doubt BC is trading players with different specialties just to train Bargs
this isn't MMA
Raps should get a big man coach if they want to focus on grooming Bargs

This is the point, who needs a bigman coach when you can kill to birds with one stone.

Bring in a player that not only improves the team now(hopefully at least) but also improves your golden boy.

I think alot of people were dead set against the JO trade-and they were right-why would he make that deal?

I don't know, i'm all for Bargnani, but he is not LeBron. I don't think a GM could acquire and trade players only for make him grow.
But i think, and is a great point for him, that Bargs can learn a lot from the players that surround him. And so his ceiling is still far away.

Please tell me that the GM takes it upon himself to build a team and not groom a favorite project.

Read people.

If the end result of signing one of 2 players in terms of team production is relatively the same(only difference being money) but 1 of those players is going to help mold your #1 pick who would you take.

Maybe the most palpable example of the grooming process is the hiring of Ivaroni who -to the extent of my knowledge- is a fairly good 'big man' coach.

Hopefully bringing in Evans doesn't teach him to grab other guys' balls. lol but maybe it will.

That's kinda hard if you camp the 3pt line 24/7.

Even harder since you'll be surrounded by quality ball catchers like Bosh or Evans or possibly Marion.

hey, just because he's got bummed knees doesn't mean he's terrible i mean former all-star, olympian.

that's gonna help your player even if he's physically crap it doesn't mean edit doesn't have a good sense of what it takes to be all star and olympian material and a good basketball player.

that's like saying that hakeem olajuwon and dikembe mutombo haven't helped yao ming because hakeem is retired and dikembe is old and they don't have it physically anymore. so, they can't teach shit.
