I wouldn't do that. two good prospects, for a 14 million player who averages near 20? ross is going to be good, and so will ed. giving up way too much imo, but they wouldn't do it otherwise, which is why I can't see us getting gay unless they lower their wants.

The only player there we may regret giving up is Ross imo.

i agree pzabby. well, not way too much, but it certainly makes me stop and think, we have to give up all of that!?

i know jose is trade fodder but we should be able to get something for him, so doing this deal loses us whatever we could get elsewhere. Ross is exciting and Ed is a solid froncourt guy who could still get considerably better.

i'd consider that deal coz we need a SF so badly but it's certainly not a steal for us.

I don't believe Smith said he wouldn't re-sign in Atlanta. However, I do believe he said he won't sign an extension. There is a difference, and the only reason he'd prefer to re-sign/sign somewhere else rather than take an extension is because of the number of extra year(s) he can get from signing a new contract as opposed to an extension. Same situation with Dwight Howard, and Chris Paul.

Just as a note, the number of years he can get via extension versus signing somewhere else is the same, except the extension gets you better raises and insurance against any injuries this year. The real difference is between signing an extension and re-signing, and in both cases you are quite able to be public and clear about wanting to stay.

Where did Paul and Howard end up again?
