Nope, it is not. It is a matter of getting lucky in the draft at least a couple of times and then bringing enough veterans via trades or free agency to create the right mix.

And also, IMHO, a matter of better coaching staff about a year down the road.

Relevance-irrelevance can change very quickly with just a few moves in the NBA because of the small roster. Look where we were in 05-06, and look at what we did the following season. And we didn't aquire any star player for that season.

There is no guarentee with the lottery. Not ussually.
There are allot of star players that were picked in the first 15 picks

Because all of the teams in our division were garbage.

They were garbage the year before as well when we won 27 games. The fact is though, a couple moves can really put you in a better position because the rosters are smaller then most team sports.

I believe that I can paraphrase the article thusly...

"This team can't do anything right. They can't even tank properly."

And I agree. It's really frustrating to be a fan of this team and know that there is no reason to believe we will be a contender in the foreseeable future.

Whats sad is there are teams with more talent that have a worse record than us. As long as BC is GM we wont tank, for some stupid reason he wants to get into the playoffs. Next year a lot of teams will be a lot better, so hopefully we will have no chance but to get beat every game and tank. I'm pretty sure most people thought we would end up 0-18 like the Nets last year (I did, at least) but we did better than most peoples expectations. All our team really needs now is a reliable SF, defensive back up C, and a PG who can grow with the team.

Puckhead? I needed that. As far as being pessimistic, I doubt you've read much of what I've posted in this thread.

We are only a couple peices away from being a top eastern team, i agree.
I think we got some extra money to spare as well, to try and land something.

Unless you meant to say "two star-level pieces away", you are in for a rude awakening.

Time to wake-up. Good teams play defence and we don't play any type of defense. Even with a lead assistant coach who has a background from the San Antonio Spurs, the Raptors are still at the bottom of the league in many of the defensive categories. That's what happens when the team evolves around Bargnani.

Well take it one step further, this team revolves around Bargnani & Jose....2 X losers in defensive efficiency.

Let's continue... DD... no defence. Kleiza... tough, but slow kind of like Joey was.... Amir/Davis... too skinny/weak right now on D... voila... bad team defence.

The Raptors are irrelevant. They don't win, they don't have any stars. A casual sports fan isn't going to watch a Raptors game, and even if they want to the game is probably on TSN2.
