Unhappy Grange: Slow Start for O'Neal

Let's hope this is just a condition issue regarding Jermaine and nothing more.

It was O'Neal's eighth practice in four days and after 12 NBA training camps I'm sure he knows that what he does when the lights come on in November is what really matters.

That said, to my eye he looked a little weary; a little heavy in the legs. I did see him make one tremendous spin move for a lay-up and knock down some mid-range fadeaways, but he was the first to his shorts on every stoppage. None other than Kris Humphries took advantage when he drove the lane on O'Neal and squeezed down a dunk on him.

O'Neal's low-point came after the scrimmage when Sam lined everyone up on the baseline and called out guys to come shoot three free throws. The team had to run on each miss, and O'Neal missed all three. Sam said later he picked on O'Neal purposely because he knew he was tired and wanted to put a little pressure on him. Overall it's way too early to make any judgements, however.

Plus, Hump was killing everyone. One thing about Hump, he might have his flaws, but the kid can run like a guard and is in tremendous shape. He might have been the most impressive guy out there, leaving him poised to take over Joey Graham's dubious mantle as the MVP of the intrasquad scrimmage. He made steals, ran the floor, drew fouls, blocked shots Ė and shot every time he touched it. Ah Hump.

Not concerned in the least.

Hump player of the game? just shows how much players put into it.
Besides O'Neals been around long enough to know whats up. Im sure he's still just finding his legs.

I like what Hump can bring effort and energy wise to the team - but for the simple reason that Kris Humphries is the "Best" player right now after a few days of training - makes me put ZERO meaning into these observations.

lol, maybe Humps is going to be our Calderon this year, going over the man who was brought to be the starter ...

Although if Humps just let the game come to him maybe this year can be his year.

This is about as significant as Joey Graham's performance in Summer league.

Really Jeff?

What about it is insignificant?

Do you think your HS try outs were any different?

Now I'm wioth you to a point here, I know the older guys slack it, the big money guys go half, hell even Chris Paul was fucking the dog in his workouts last night on the "Real Training camp" show, but I think it's wrong to say it's not significant to see a 3-4th year kid out there proving that for a second year straight he has indeed worked his ass off and made considerable progress.

Humphries is a good player. Young and a bit overzealous on offence at times ya, but still, the kid can ball. He can run, bang, board, and klnock down shots. Period.

Instead of making fun and insulting him, people should see th e value in trying to get the value outta him, you might be lookig at the next AC Green, and that ain't bad at ALL!

the problem with humphries is that while he's still young, he's in his 5th or 6th season. By this time his game IQ should be very high, and last season he was obviously still "not getting" it. We all like him because of his hustling abilities, especially since he was pretty much the only big like that on our team for the past 2 seasons. But your body can only take you so far ...

All i'm saying that this means nothing. When the season starts he'll be fine.Just like when the season starts JG will be sitting on the bench and his summer league stats will mean nothing.I never said he doesn't look that good?In fact i defended JO.And i wasn't talking about Hump at all.

yeah - I was talking about grange. And in today's star, Feschuk, the other critic, pokes a bit at O'Neal too, for missing those 3 free throws. There will be a lot of crow on the menus this season
