I think Rudy to Dallas is a good fit,but would have to happen in a 3 or 4 team deal like how the Raps acquired him. Marion and Wright would have to be outgoing Mavs players in my opinion, but Gay alongside Calderon and Nowitzki under Carlisle would work imo.

I think Detroit,Dallas,Toronto and another deal would complete the package, with the Raps some how receiving Monroe(Pistons could then slide Smith to PF and maybe acquire Marion for the 3).

I disagree completely - In Marion you have somebody who embraces the role as a defensive stopper, and is satisfied playing a secondary role off of Dirk and Ellis on offense.

Sub in Gay for Marion, and now you need to have Dirk playing a different character than what he is accustomed to, sharing the ball with two other players in crunch time, and you lose that defensive stopper mentality that a player like Marion brings to the table.

I don't see the synergy, and I don't think the Mavs would ever go for it. As it stands, you get the clutchness and offensive power that Gay brings from Nowitzki/Ellis; having three players like that is redundant. Carter and company are all competent role players in their own right.

Gay would drive Nowitzki crazy. In no way does Gay bring that team to another level, all he does is create a different dynamic that the team would need to adjust to.

I'm not sure anybody would go for Gay except teams that could make the playoffs without a big name scorer. Maybe Atlanta??

Yea you bring up some valid points that I can't argue against. I still believe Rudy could work in Dallas with less pressure to be that top scorer. Him as a 2nd or 3rd option on offense is ideal.

a lot of players outperform when they go to Dallas though, from chandler and kidd, to mayo, wright, Carter and brand and now ellis, dalembert and jose - carlisle is doing a great job to get the most out of his roster ... unlike some coaches we know

btw, while probably not high on their list, Houston may just have to bite on a gay for asik deal if they don't get many offers. Not sure how many teams will be willing to pay 15M to a guy who can walk after the next season, even if the cap hit is only half that. 15M is a LOT of money for somebody like Asik. the only problem is houston is deep into analytics and they will probably throw up first when looking at rudy's advanced stats

100% agree with this. Gay is nothing more then a cancer. Marion on the other hand is a solid player that knows his role and gives Dallas that defensive stopper they need. By trading Marion and parts for Gay would only mean Dallas would have hardly any cap left and have a horrible defense.

I don't think the Nets go for it given the amount RG's owed last year. The Nets should make a semi-run when they get DWILL, JET, LOPEZ and AK47 back.
