By the title I expected something else. It does tell us Gay can't be traded but most of us knew that.

I mean you can... if you wanna take on something more toxic. It's called negative value (-).

You really want to subject us to that for the rest of the season?

He could if we bench him and really limit his minutes. He would probably cut his losses and opt out

They don't have much of a choice but to rebuild. What they have now isn't good enough to compete for a deep playoff run, even in a bad year for the East.

In almost 20 years of existence, the franchise has drafted only 1 point guard in the first round or lottery. The Raps need their franchise QB. I'm hoping they could land Marcus Smart

Lowry has heart,he's gritty but there's a strong chance he walks as a UFA this off season to play for a contender. He wants to win and being nearly 30,probably now.

Package him with Ross and get this tank rolling.

Has everyone forgotten the summer already? Ujiri traded Andrea Bargnani for a role player, an effectively expiring contract, a first round pick and two 2nd rounders, and took back less salary in the deal.

He can trade Gay for positive value.

Not everybody's James Dolan. Also, people can see how Gay's single-handedly destroying our team right now.

However, I do trust your notion that if anyone can do it, it's Masai Ujiri.

You seriously think there isn't one GM in the NBA that won't look at Rudy Gay and say, ok he'd give me 20/7 and i think under our system he would fit better because of the system and coach in place? If anything they'd have him for a year and see if it doesn't work they could trade his 19mil expiring next season before the trade deadline.

Nobody is untradeable. Look what Atlanta got for Joe Johnson when everyone said he was untradeable. 5 players + a 1st rounder which i believe turned into Shroder. Obviously no great players but i would take that kind of haul.

Speaking of Brooklyn, i believe that team right now would be desperate enough to be looking at something like that.

the truth is, under the right coach, Gay could give you that and be very productive. He needs reined in, but we don't have the structure nor the willing coach to do it.

my thoughts exactly
salary aside, gay could be a very productive player, easily all star talent
you just need to recognize his weaknesses and control his bad tendencies. He would be great in Miami for example.

Despite some contrary evidence, I do feel like gay is a coachable guy - he's not necessarily selfish, merely misguided about his abilities. He thinks he can do things that he can't
