this is a playoff team, injuries separate the teams, that's why BC is trying to bolster the bench

in the playoffs, anything can happen

We can't blow our future signing Marion. He's a heck of a player, but we can't make a mistake by signing him 34M through 4 seasons. That's about 7/8/9/10

To much to a 35-year guy that plays based on his physical

I'd go with 22M for 3 years. Marion has no options

Sure. We don't even know what will happen to Bosh. Maybe we can get a nice swap and play some good basketball. What if Bargnani puts up 22/9/3/2 every night?

expiring contract
if he plays at a high level for at least 2 years and his production slips he can become trade bait
who knows what happens in a couple years, maybe we have a SF in waiting

i would rather pay Marion 4/32 than Hedo 5/50-60

I still remember a guy, All-Defensive First Team and led the NBA in rebounds per game when he was 35-year. Oh, and the same when he was 36 and 37. And being an undersized PF. And with the worse shot-% ever. Winning 3 rings.
So a miracle can happens.

I want him. I love him as a player! But we can't pay him that much. We're almost forgetting that we could find a nice vet to back up PG with this difference.

how much would you give him?
if you say 7mil per year thats not really different
realize that $6mil per is the MLE then he could sign anywhere

this isnt the NHL
8th place teams only go so far
The west and east are getting so powerful. Just look at the lakers, spurs, cavs, and celtics. We can't put a match up with any of those teams! Heck we cant put a match up with orlando, even if they dont have carter

Last 13 games Marion averaged 16.2 points per game
9.4 rebounds
2.2 assists
1.3 steals
1.0 blocks
All the while shooting 53%

Don't see how anyone thinks he's a washed up retread and that $8 mill a season is too much. It's fair price and a tradeable asset. Most importantly it opens up all kinds of opportunities for us capwise. There really was no other alternative capwise.

The Celtics? Ray Allen is on the decline. Pierce might start heading that way. There's no way to tell what KG might be able to do in recovering, and they have no depth.

Orlando is going backwards not forwards.

The Cavs aren't even a sure thing. Nobody knows how it will work with Shaq. I think it will work, but it might not.

I think the Raptors can do much better than 8. If they can 4 or 5 then they can easily have playoff success. 6 might even work out. Why trash the season on July 3? That's nuts.

I thought last season would work out great and the opposite happened. There's always more than one way for seasons to play out. I want to see the franchise as a whole get to the point where they can sustain a winning approach year to year unless the worst happens. There has to be vets for that. There has to be a commitment on both ends of the court. And there has to be players pushing each other. It's not beyond reason to see them finding that in some form this season to at least lay a foundation that might be able to last for a while. And that is the first step to reaching the top. It's a tough step to take, but there's no point in saying it's just impossible.

What I would like to see is...
Phoenix recieve Marion + Banks
For J Richardson
I dont love J richardson but this would make next years playoffs even more interesting.
After making that trade Phoenix should trade ben wallace for Chandler, which was recently rumored.
Then
Nash
Pavlovic
Marion
Stoudamire
Chandler
6th: Barbosa

imo Marion was a failed experiment and we need to move on.. even though everyone else thinks differently and LOVES shawn
I'm just not feelin JRich anymore he did pretty much nothin playing beside Steve Nash with out Amare....I just don't think his knees are good anymore too many injuries...He is definatly not the player he was 3 years ago. (At his age he should be getting better not worse)

At this point I would have to say JRich < Marion even 2 years from now.

J-Rich is an offensive player. No way. And I'm sure PHX won't get back the duo they traded 2 seasons ago

The east is not powerful! The west makes me shit myself

But the east is not difficult. Orlando proved it going to the finals starting an average rookie and rafer alston...

If Bosh plays big basektball and Raptors improve defense (delfino and Evans should help a lot) we could fight for the 4th seed and think about ECF

Yep. A Raptors team with improved defense and more toughness in the middle is not all that different from a jump-shooting Orlando team.

I know, you don't hear many say Turkoglu is too old or washed up.And they're the same age.

Big deal. You kepp him 3yrs and if it isn't working out you trade an expiring contract. The last year of a contract is a wash imo, especially for a manageable contract of 8Mil and in a much better financial climate by then.

well considering all the teams with money are signing other players, it only leaves the Raptors with decent money for marion to go to, he just better not be coming back because there are no other choices, that usually doesn't work well in the end
