Grange: Are the Raptors any good?

I have to agree with Grange, that love him or hate him Chris Bosh improves this team ten fold and makes everyone around him better. :)

1. It only took 21 games, but the Raptors finally got a win against a quality opponent, that is, a team with a .500 record. And no, there was no coincidence that it came with Bosh back in the line-up. When I was in Boston Mitchell went on a fairly lengthy and Sam-esque rant about what Kevin Garnett means to the Boston Celtics, the gist of which was he makes his teammates better. Much better. Itís a big stretch to say that Bosh has a similar impact on a team or a game as Garnett. The Big Ticket has one attribute that Bosh never will have: At 7-1 and 260ish, Garnett has a pure physical advantage over every single power-forward in the league and every centre except maybe Yao. Bosh might even be a more diverse offensive player, but heíll never be able to command the lane and own the glass the way Garnett does every night, at least on the defensive end. No disrespect to Bosh, but Garnett is on the short list of all-time greats, in my opinion, for that reason.

2. Still, Bosh gives the Raptors a focus offensively that they just donít have without him. He gives them somewhere to start their offence. The fact that he generally requires a double-team makes the Raptors ball-movement and motion that much more effective. He gets to the line which keeps them scoring when the shots arenít falling and he takes responsibility in the fourth quarter. He did all of that yesterday and it picked up his whole team only a day after they were all embarrassed in Boston.

I agree too. It's nice we don't pull a Cleveland when our star(or three) goes down, but we need him out there and playing in top form to beat good teams period. Let's hope this is the end of the nagging injury stage of the season for him. I would love to see him strong for the next week...I think we can beat Dallas at home with him playing 40 mpg and getting his 20+ and 10+

He makes the defense a whole lot better as well.

He overestimate Garnett ... I really like Garnett, but I don't think Bosh is so far from the Garnett's greatness. Let's not forget, while being Timberwolf, Bash had great games against Garnett. I think Garnett is pumped up this year to proof that with the right support cast he can go far. And with Pierce and R. Allen besides him Bosh would be a great monster, too, as you can't double him all the time!

That's a nice sentiment but it's also a rose-coloured glasses assessment. Bosh is not on KG's level ...not even close yet. I think he will evolve into a player of similar game but he's not there yet. There's nothing wrong with that either..hes' been through a lot as a young player but now that he has talent and consistancy, if he can stay healthy i think you'll see him take the next step.
