Default Grange: Preseason Has Been Putrid

Apparently Grange isn't impressed with our performance so far this fall.

The fact is, this pre-season has been ….putrid. The Raptors, in general, looked horrific last night. No bounce. No edge. No precision. No cohesion. And Jermaine O'Neal shut it down due to hamstring stiffness. Now, was all this a reflection of three games in four days while flying through four time zones? I guessing that had something to do with it. No doubt O'Neal's hamstring reflects that fact.

Bosh looks sharp and healthy; ditto for Calderon. But we knew that in September. As for the rest?

As has been written many times. This version of the Raptors is relevant only for what happens when the rubber hits the road in the regular season. What can O'Neal do? What will Bargnani do? Ukic? Graham-Moon? Is Kapono a bust or will he pick up where he left off in Orlando?

All of those are really, really interesting questions and I can't wait to have them answered. But the only answers that matter will come beginning Oct. 29th.

I don't think anything that I've seen or heard precludes some positive answers to those questions. But I've certainly seen nothing toguarantee that will be the case.

For once i agree with this mush mouth! Other than Bosh,Calderon,Bargnani (at times) and AP i haven't been impressed.I guess those four looking good is no big shock. But the bench has looked horrid and confused.Especially,Ukic,Soloman,Adams.They've got a week to get healthier and get their shit together, let's hope they can do just that.

Unfortunately there are some games you just can't un-watch.

I like Grange's Raptor coverage. I respect his opinion because he's never a cheerleader.

I think as this team matures, they care less about preseason. I think Bosh has said as much.

The only ones that say that are teams that stink it up in pre-season.

I don't know. San Antonio went 2-7 in 05-06 then went 63-19. I'm not concerned.

it's one thing to lose in pre-season, and another to stink. Preseason should be time to gel, and establish rotations and offensive and defensive combinations. We didn't show anything for most of these games, and there definitely wasn't any improvement in our play. With our weak bench and short roster, it would have been difficult to get a good record, which in the end it's meaningless. But to play like we did, it's a bad omen in my mind.
