Default Grange: Not Sold on Marco Belinelli Yet

This is how I feel about Marco Belinelli playing two guard. They run all this stuff for him and set all these screens so he can get the ball and get shots because basketball orthodoxy dictates that that’s how two guards play: he’s the two guard, so we better get him shots. But the orthodoxy stems from the idea that two guards are your most versatile offensive players – you know, like Kobe or Jordan. I’m not sure getting Belinelli shots at the expense of other guys is a good way to run your team. But hey, it’s early.

lol

I like the PG analogy...so true...pretty much how I started playing point.

Wasn't by choice!

I'm not certinan I agree.

I like the way he runs through picks, and he get to the paint, and he hits shots.

He's parker witha bit of go get him.

Is he a star....nope.
Is he a puzzle piece...yes.

I think it's funny you thought you needed to voice that.

Trust me.

We already knew.

HA!

Perhaps he and Doug Smith should sit down and chat.

Doug thinks he makes things happen.

I knew someone in TO would agree with me. Finally.

I dig Grange, and I feel the same way. Belinelli put up those numbers in Golden State for a brief time because, for a brief time, Nellie liked him. He played him big minutes and made him a major focus. As I complained at the time, those minutes should have gone to Anthony Morrow. Same thing could happen here, except we don't have a damn Morrow, unfortunately.

I dunno man, Morrow lit it up last year in Pre-Season too.

I liked him, and then he dropped to 10 a game.

Good luck to him for sure though.

Is this a problem if he's going to be a bench guy? He has enough versatility to have some plays run for him in the second unit.

Its too early to criticize Jay for his play calling. The guys are still learning the plays and each other.

As usual i disagree with Grange, and for the first time in awhile i agree with D. Smith along with E.Smith/Jack Armstrong who all think he makes things happen.

We got Belinelli for Devean George. Great trade!! Belinelli is better than Kapono and Graham. Good wing player who will make a nice contribution from the bench. No way he should be starting or the main focus on the second unit like JR Smith in the Nuggets. Belinelli and Jack will share the ball handling duties for the second unit.

Agree with Grange 100%. A lot of people liken him to Manu I see more resemblenace to Carlos Arroyo. He is a ball hog and a very streakt shooter. Don't get me wrong he can definitly help the team.
But I wouldn't give him the back position at SG just because the Raptors acquired him or because Maurizio Ger. thinks he is great. He has to earn his minutes. I would really like to see Wright get the majority of these minutes.

Wow, a very streaky ballhog is a positive.

Don't get me wrong, but a few of you are talking out your asses on this one.

Pretty earlier to be making a call on someone's offense - Especially since Jay says he hasn't put one in yet!

The guys are just doing what they like so far - Marco, like everyone else, will perform better once there's some structure to the offensive.
