I like Gordon and all but is he that good as advertised??
Crazy clutch I've maybe seen. If he wants the ball, (which would most likely be in Rose's hands)
he should come here for sure. But our PG would be bigger than him.

Maybe it's the contract year?

Someone will pay him 8Mil per imo. And it just might be us. The thing is, teams will offer him 5-6 Mil and we'll have to give him 8Mil to keep him.

Honestly if we dont trade Bosh then I think the offseason will be a failure.
The FA market is looking ugly. I don't see anyone that would fit in our system and is worth spending on.
Trade Bosh and get a young stud + lottery pick and free up some capspace.
Sign a FA and build around our (potential) young core in 2010.
Thats what I would like to see.

If we can get MArion for 8 mil I'd take that and run. The only ting left to do afterwards is to get a good SLASHING 2 guard that can score and put this team on his back

Or get a 2 guard that can defend the perimeter, so that he doesn't have to put the team on his back on the other end where everyone needs to touch the ball.

As much as I appreciate Marion's defensive and rebounding capabilities, there are younger wing players out there who have the potential to give the Raptors what Marion gives this team (rebounding and defence) and would probably settle for just as much if not less than what Marion will be commanding this off-season.

Marion actually provides more than just rebounding and defense. And part of that is from learning how to apply all the little things and provide leadership as well, through experience. I don't get the fascination with youth. Youth doesn't win you anything, until it's no longer young.

I think the last thing on Marion's mind is providing leadership for this team. The man wants his paycheque, and he's using the Raptors to up his value. I'd rather have younger player locked up long term than an aging player whose over reliant on his deteriorating athletic abilities and locked up long term. Youth doesn't help the Raptors win, but the Raptors definitely are not a playoff team now, and they certainly can't be a few years down the road if Marion asks for a long term deal that could hurt the Raptors financially.

I think you have the misconception that I do not want Marion resigned if he's being paid the MLE. If the Raptors can resign Marion for something around the MLE then like everyone else here I'd be pretty satisfied. I just think that there are better alternatives out there if Marion is asking for too much, and the chances of him opting for that type of money is close to non existant. Just look at the recent trend of paying 29-31 year old wing players 10+ million who are in a similar situation to Marion's.
