Grange: Grading the Raptors/Wright likely gone by the deadline

Quote:
Antoine Wright

Overall grade: C-

Strengths: The Raptors most experienced defensive player on the perimeter; strong enough to match up against stretch fours and crafty enough to chase shooting guards.

Needs to work on: Fitness. His initial impact was compromised after missing considerable time in training camp with a knee problem. Offensively doesn’t offer what DeRozan or Weems or even Belinelli does. Look for the Raptors to try and package his expiring contract before the trade deadline.

No big loss. Other backups have been more effective.

I don't mind if wright is gone, it's Jose that stings.. I met the guy at the Blue Jays Game a couple of years ago, nice enough to say hello, take a picture while he was trying to top his hot dog.. crazy.. guy loves toronto.. if only we could get rid of Banks instead of Calderon :\

I hope not
he's getting into form right now, and come playoff time he might even start for us
he's our closest Bowen clone, and you need guys like him in the playoffs
unless we get a really good player in return, I see no reason tobtrade him

I doubt that Wright is going to do anything defensively that Weems can't. Even when he's 100% healthy.

I'm much more comfortable with Banks, Weems and Belli taking his minutes. All of them are better than Wright offensively and are capable of playing scrappy D.

"Bowen-clone" is a stretch to say the least.

Quite of few "this player will be out of Toronto by deadline" predictions.
But why? Seeing Jose light it up off the bench should put out any trade rumors. Apart from a magic move by BC for a real impact player, we have a solid roster and need no trades.
Just the fact that Wright, Weems and Belli all compete for the minutes? Or that he is expiring?

I still believe that Wright is a skilled player. He can get to an upper level in the right hands.

2.35 million is the max salary we could take back in a trade involving solely wright.

add him with Rashos expiring the max we could take back would be $4,837,500. Not really a game changer at that amount.

teams over taxhold

LAL
Boston
Cleveland
ORlando
Washington
NYK
Dallas
Houston
NO
Utah

Other Teams willing to shed salary
NJ

He's been playing better of late, but I had higher expectations for him when we signed him. If we can move him for something I wouldn't have a problem.

Were you thinking Derozan/Wright/Rasho? ... I wouldn't do it.

Harris and Lopez are two of the most overrated players in the game today. Between the two of them... if they were any good... they should be able to pull out 4 wins! LOL

I mean Bosh/Bargnani would pull out wins despite Will Solomon/AP/Jamario... that shows you that they are good bball players. Harris and Lopez on the other hand... overrated.

Are you really seriously in saying that Lopez is overrated?

Their roster is beyond horrendous.

Battie, is terrible.

Simmons is terrible.

Boone is terrible.

Hassell is terrible.

The got guys who are 10th to 11th men playing meaningful minutes.
