Grange: Bosh probably the best Raptor ever

Thoughts?

Quote:
“Chris Bosh is averaging over 24 points and 12 rebounds per game right now. If he were to finish the season above those two thresholds, he would become just the 12th player over the last 20 years to do so,” says Black.

And another thing: No player ever has hit those numbers and done while averaging less than two turnovers a game.

I’ll resist the urge to say enjoy it while it lasts – and not only because it’s unlikely will Bosh maintain 12 rebounds a game all season. But seriously, enjoy it. After six seasons Bosh is reaching that stage where people are as familiar with his shortcomings as his strengths. He’s not LeBron but he’s probably the best player the franchise has ever had and if he leaves – and whether he should or shouldn’t or will or won’t is a topic for another day -- I can’t see him being replaced easily, can you?

It's true, more by default than sheer greatness.

The thing is, if you look at the overall package- Talent, attitude, loyalty, good in the community, embassador for the city. It's not that close. He's been good to this franchise.

Carter won more with a better team and better coaching, only won one more playoff series and had 4 good season before whining and setting this franchise back years with the help of Bacock of course. His last 2 seasons here hurt us as much as his first 4 seasons helped. He left this franchise as bad if not worse then when he arrived. And with a binkie in his mouth and his tail between his legs.

I am the biggest Bosh fan. But the young Vince Carter who had something to prove and had chip on his shoulder for not initially being selected to the Olympic Team. That Carter could be placed in the Kobe, Wade, and Lebron James level. Once he signed the long-term contract & knee problems, it was a different Vince. Young Vince > Chris Bosh

given our team's brief history and limited success, the 'greatest' raptor ever is one dubious title.

If you're talking commitment to the franchise it's Bosh no question.

But in the days of Vince people were buying tickets to Raptors away games just to get the opportunity to see Vince dunk. He was so exciting that fans of other teams were paying to see a team from Canada. A couple years ago I remember hearing that the Raptors were last in the league in attendance away from home.

The name "Vince Carter" is maybe one of the most recognizable in the history of the league. If you're talking influence it's VC and it's not even close.

Good point about young Vince. But I still think of him not caring enough about winning. He was always happy enough to win just enough. He set the league on fire, but only in hopes of seeing much more that never materialized, and the fire was never there inside of him.

I have to say it is Vince. He brought this city the much needed attention it needed. He got us to the 2nd round of the playoffs. A place we have never seen without him. By reading this people will obviously think I like Vince, but I don't. I don't hate him ANYMORE either. It is more of a neutral feeling. He didleave this team in a bitch manner so in terms of commitment I have to agree with zach and say Bosh

Winning 1 playoff series in Toronto is infinitely more than winning 0 playoff series in Toronto. We were 1 damn shot away from the ECF!

Vince's 28/6/6 is as impressive as 24/12 to me. And I'm a huge Bosh fan, if he leads us to a playoff series win, he's no doubt the greatest raptor.

Not only were we one shot away from the Eastern Conference Finals, we were better than the Bucks that year in my opinion so we could have made the Finals

If we win 47+ games and Bosh keeps his numbers at their current level I'd say that HE'D have had the most impressive season by a Raptor ever.

Goes without saying though that Vince generated hype that will likely never again be matched. He was/is a rare talent.
