Default Grange: BC Loath To Part With Parker

I do have to say that it would be sad to see AP dealt and I know it would be hard for Colangelo if he did so, but his expiring deal albeit its only $4 million and his veteran leadership will be extremely valuable to a playoff contender down the stretch.

Something tells me though if AP is dealt before the deadline, that the Raptors will re-sign him again this summer.

Parker says he's not ready to retire and if showing that he can play extended minutes at point guard can extend his career, he's all for it. If it keeps him in Toronto after this season, all the better.

"Hopefully, Bryan is taking notice and this is something that I can do going forward," Parker said. "I've always expressed my desire to stay in Toronto. Hopefully, they can look at it and say, 'Hey, this is different way they can use this guy.' "

I hope Parker stays around for another few years. I think he still has the legs.

While not the most flashy player, Parker is definately one of the more reliable and savy Raptors on this sqaud. and trust me... for all the hate AP occasionally gets, we'd be way worse off without him. Like they say, you don't know what you got, until you lose it.

I would love to have him as a starter if we get a good SF, if not. He would be great as a 6th man. He is probably our healthiest player.

Very good player and personality. He's good for any team. Parker should stay.

In the future I would love Parker off of the bench and he has done a pretty good job playing the point.

He would be a great 6th man come the next 2-3 seasons off the bench.

if we get a great SF he's perfect for the rest of the season to guard the All Star 2's out there.

He's definitley our best defender and a purely classy guy.

Question is not whether will he be signed, but by whom and for how much. I can see 6 mil per year.
Its good he wants to stay in TO, but sometimes money (and championship hope) decides.

Remind you that we wanted to sign Delfino and Rasho coming offseason. Running awfully short on cash

I'd say he gets 3Mil. He's getting older and would likely be bcoming off the bench for a good team. So unless he signs for OKC,SAC or another shit team and is a starter, he'll earn less then his current 4.5 Mil.

Good thing you're not a GM. LOL

7Million per for a 34 year old SG who's lost a step and is averaging 10/3?

So you'd give him almost double the Money as he gets older? Fuck me!

You wouldn't pay 7 million for a guy like that to back up your starting 2 guard?

Holy fuck man.

Who pays a 34 year old guy almost as much as your starting PG to be a backup SG when you need to spend to upgrade at the SG/SF positions. I guess we'll sign Parker for 7 million, Delfino for 3 million and practically have the same team next season. lol

Or are you being sarcastic? lol

Depends upon what you feel he brings the team.

7 million in this league isn't that high.

For a bench player it seems pretty high. 1mil less then calderon, i just feel the $ could be spent better, i would offer him 5

I would offer Parker 4 mil, then try and sign Delfino for 4-5 mil. But the first thing we would have to do is sign a good starting SF or SG.

For a decent starter with upside maybe. But an aging backup SG who makes 4.5 in his prime? And only gives you 10/3 now.

Calderon at 27 years old (starting PG averaging almost a double double) is making 7.4Million this season.AP as valuable a team mate as he is, will be 35 at the end of next season and should not make anywhere near what Jose makes imo. Especially in a diminished roll, coming off the bench.

He's been great lately, but November/December were horrible months for him where he shot 38% from the field/32% from 3.

So, up to 10 Million for 2 backup SG? Unless you want one of them to be the starting 2 guard. Alot of money to spend without upgrading the starting 2 spot. The Raptors then wouldn't have much money to upgrade the SF position and upgrade the bench.
