Raptors Grange: Bargnani to Pistons for Hamilton/1st round pick? - false rumour

Grange was on the fan today and apparently said he heard some rumblings of this as a possibility.

Thoughts?

Bargnani beside GM would be a strong frontcourt.

it's very likely that the pistons will have a very low first rounder this upcoming draft. i'd make that gamble.

Rip has two years left. Next year is only partially guaranteed to 9 million if he is waived by July.

I would definitely do this, assuming no protection on the pick.

could possibly be used for the amnesty if it is indeed allowed on roster players acquired after the cba is signed.

Man that 1st rounder would be nice to have. 2 first rounders most likely top 10 or better in this draft to build around DD, Davis, and Val?

Would be a gamble but interesting at least. I would bite.

I'm not sure if I want to think about it until it happens. This would be near perfect. We get a much needed wing player and a likely second high pick. And a clean slate for the new coach. I just can't believe the Pistons would shun defense even more than they already have lately.

Bayless/Calderon
Derozan/Barbosa
Hamilton/Johnson
Davis/Amir
FA/Alabi

interesting...

can you imagine gordon, charlie v, and Bargs out on the court together? it'd be like watching the raptors, but funnier 'cause it wouldn't be us!

I guess it would be likely to see Gordon or Charlie V used in the amnesty, so maybe they could stomach giving Bargnani a shot.

LINK - DetroitFreePress

Quote:
The Pistons have three main candidates for amnesty.

Onetime Pistons hero Rip Hamilton is on the books for roughly $19 million over the next two seasons. Ben Gordon hasn't lived up to expectations since signing in 2009 and is owed nearly $35 million over the next three seasons.

And then there's Charlie Villanueva, under contract for nearly $23 million over the next three seasons.

But there's something else to consider. I asked a Pistons official during the summer: "Who would get the ax if the amnesty provision is approved?"

He responded: "It depends on who you can trade."

Grange just tweeted that it is not a real rumor - just him fooling around on twitter with a fan.
