Good one Joey.

Looks like yet another ex-Raptor who stands a great chance to flourish elsewhere.

Default Graham Filling Dahntay Jones' Role In Denver

Joey Graham has impressed George Karl so much that the Nuggets have already talked about fitting the forward in the rotation during J.R. Smith's seven-game suspension when the season starts.

Those decisions are still to be determined, but what is clear is how much Karl likes Graham's workmanlike style.

"There's a 'how we played' last year that I don't think any of us want to change," Karl said. "Joey has that Dahntay Jones personality. They are different players, going to do it in different ways. But from the standpoint of courage and toughness and the desire to defend, Joey has those personalities."

The Nuggets once tried to trade Linas Kleiza for Graham when he was with Toronto.

I remember a few games last year where opposing teams did not want anything to do with battling against Joey Graham.

Joey should pick up the phone, call Sam and thank him for being such a hard ass blue collar type coach. Sam is to thank for how Joey approaches the game.

I saw him briefly playing PF with the starting unit.

He looked good. I hope he finally puts it all together.

Good on JG. He just needs to keep working hard. That's what's going to keep him earning a regular paycheck.

Joey was a good teammate on the Raptors.
But he needed to go along with the rest unfortunately.

It would have been nice if he could've stuck around as the 3rd string SF.

as a sf he totally sucks
at pf he's better

of course, if karl would read our forum he would know that the safe thing with joey is to wait 10-15 games, the main rap on him was inconsistency. one game he looks like a starter, the next he looks half asleep. in any case, at the minimum he's a decent player. at 3.5 (the salary we'd have to pay), he'd be horribly overpaid.

Graham is only hungry now that he fighting for a roster spot. His true colors will eventually show. Lack of focus, low basketball IQ, and inconsistent effort and performance will show. I'm glad he's gone.

If the bar set for him is Dahntay Jones then he'll be just fine.

Can't argue much with all that. I think the team wanted to improve it's overall BBIQ because Triano is more of a thinking man's coach. They've basically added several players with decent BB savvy and unfortunately for Joey, he just didn't fit the bill here. The thing i think we all liked about him though was his all-around toughness. His ability to consistantly read and react on both offence and defence however, left alot to be desired. You can accomplish alot more in the NBA with slightly lesser talent but excellent basketball IQ.

I was watching some random late-season game on RaptorsTV the other week (back when we had Marion), and I was laughing to myself at, among other things, the lineup we had one the floor at the time: something like Roko, AP, Joey G, Pops and O'Bryant - the last guy being the only one who's still on our team.

Anyways, I was watching this game with our bench unit playing, and this big, well-built Raptor guard drives to the basket from inside the 3 point line on the right side, muscles his way in between two guys, and puts up a nice layup (that misses) after getting hacked by a guy and the whistle is blown. The refs call an offensive foul, and on the replay I can clearly see Joey Graham doing the patented Joey-G off-hand pushoff move that gets called EVERY TIME as an offensive foul.

In that instant, I was glad to be rid of Joey; he's a gifted player physically, but a lug mentally.

Joey was a magic act, he would disappear and appear. But if this guy turns in to a caliber player on Denver:reporter, I'm going to be very mad at him.
