I'm surprised by a few of the grades given to Amir. I'd still give him a "B" for the overall season. I think maybe we got spoiled by his ridiculous hustle and energy levels in the past and the expectations got a bit high.

Mehh, I think he's over rated around here. If you compare last season to this season he has been very disapointing and it isn't just recently. Last season he was a B+ to A. I expected more out of him this season. And his constant ankle issues worry me.

Better rebounding, get to the line more, not taking 3's, even his D has slipped to a degree. He has been a far less consistent player this season compared to last season and yet another ankle injury. I'm surprised you have to ask.

I'd like to see a lot fewer games of 5pt/6 rebounds from my starting power forward, that's for sure.

too many games where he didn't show up this season. When he's on, he's good, but he's got to be on more often. And this happened before the injury, unless he had other injuries but I doubt it.

since dec. 23rd (after he went through that hot stretch when everybody was in love with him), look at his points/rebounds lines:

DEC

7/8
7/5
8/8
9/6

JAN

6/5
17/7
17/8
0/3
10/11
3/4
6/6
6/5

19/2
13/6
2/3
9/6
9/7
8/3
8/6
22/11
6/9

FEB
2/4
11/11
3/3
8/5

Now, if he's hurt, that's one thing. But sprinkled between these duds are some pretty good games. Like, for example, the beginning of Jan where he was basically alternating between a dud and a good game.

Ratings based on what you expect of a player their caliber and their year, and not necessarily who's best on the team.

Not sure why everyone is giving DeRozan an A.

I only gave him a B+ because I felt that his defense is still below average. I like that he is stepping up in terms of rebounding and assists. But imo, as long as he is a one-way player, I can't give him an A.

He's improved his ppg, apg, rpg + is an all-star. I even have to say he's improved his defense. IMO last season he was probably a B+, so i have to bump him up a little, he's improving.

Having seen Amir's play in the best game i saw live, and how instrumental he was in the big win over OKC, i couldn't possibly give him less than a B. He was huge in keeping this team's focus on winning when it wasn't supposed to be. The stats mean very little. He's the perfect example of a player whose value is not relative to stats. Ask his teammates what his grade should be. I think they would probably all grade him pretty high. There is a reason this team feels they can compete with anyone, and he is a large part of that, and they know it.

That said, i am worried about the damn ankles. It would seem as though they are basically sausages at this point. And that sucks just to think about. A lot of the defensive effectiveness of this team rests on him, and that is not overstating anything.
