Default Gotta get Humps more minutes

Other than a couple brainfarts tonight, Humps again was productive showing that if you give him the PT he can be effective especially on the offensive boards. He kept the offense alive with a handful of offensive boards as well about 3 or 4 tips to his teammates.

Up to this point so far this season, I'd rather see him and Bosh teamed up in the frontcourt together than Bosh with either Rasho or Bargs. If he's the only banger and rebounding option we have right now, we gotta get him some more minutes. Its not a coincidence that prior to this game we have 2 of our worst rebounding efforts all season long and guess who rarely got any playing time? Humps.

If we're not addressing rebounding, toughness and interior play on both ends anytime soon via trade, then personally our best option right now is to get Kris out there for consistant minutes night in and night out. Love his effort and his energy.

OK, now flame away.

While I agree that he can be productive, I'm not so sure. What scared me today was his tendency to look for his own shot when the Raps built a lead. He seems to look for any opportunity to prove that he can score off the dribble-drive and fadeaway spins. Fortunately he doesn't do much of that in close games, but too much of it is a sure way to allow opponents back into the game when the Raps have the lead.

I have to say that Bargs is really starting to piss me off, I have always had confidence on him but common. Humps takes horrible shots but he really compensites it with all the effort like you said, and Rasho too deserves more minutes. HE barely makes any mistake.
COMMON BARGS, prove us wrong!!!!

While I agree, had he not gotta those 2 fouls as fast as he did it might have been different. But yes, considering "The Fat Boys" sat for pretty much the entire game, it would of been a fantastic opportunity for Andrea to take advantage of their front court eventhough Lee and Balkman did an admiral job in their place.

NO!

How many times have you seen Kris Humphries pass the ball. When it gets in his hands...Offense over.

Sure he can rebound a bit, I prefer Rasho.

Hump pisses me off cause sometimes he thinks he's Jordan...

Hump needs to come in and rebound, play D, get garbage points and hit open jumpshots...in that order of importance. Not this game he plays where he shoots the ball from wherever he catches the offensive rebound or tries to become a slashing, fade away jumpshooting power forward. And for the love of god - catch the ball. No more of this fumbling and through the hands shit. CATCH IT!

OOOOOK, so by reading your comments I see I'm alone on this. If you guys are opposed to the idea, I hate to hear what thriller's going to say.

If he rebounds, plays D and hustles then I'm fine. If he starts thinking he's a 6'10 version of Wade then glue him to the bench, which I'm pretty sure is what Sam does.

Strap rules, from Hoosiers - don't shoot unless you're wide open and under the basket.

It's too perfect.

Okay, you knew you'd get some support from me. I have no problem with a guy who is trying to prove himself taking a few "personal moments" when the team is up. He doesn't force shots when they are in tight games, he sticks with what works. Does he pass a lot? No, but he's not supposed to. When Hump gets the ball, he's shouldn't be any more than 7 feet from the rim. That's why when he gets the ball, he's going up and HE'S GOING TO GO UP STRONG, which is exactly what you want him to do. Hump passes when he is out of his range (which isn't too far) and then tries to get back low where he can bang. If anybody can name another Raptor who goes as hard to the basket as Hump does, er...let me know.

I don't think you can start running him out there on serious extended minutes, it's tough for a guy that size to continually play like that, but I would like to see him get some more time. Just make sure he remembers his role.

I think this is my biggest problem with it..We let way too many leads get away because of stuff like that. When we are up 20 with 5 mins left..go nuts...

Hump gets limited touches and when he does take a personal moment, he's usually still taking a shot from inside ten feet where he has a good chance of getting his own rebound. He's not pulling a Jamario 3-point attempt (seriously, what the hell is going on with THAT?) or a TJ "I'm going to "will" this ball into the basket." I don't think he forces that many to even really notice.

Come on, let Hump have his game of 21.

I'd rather have Hump doing fadeaways than Rasho granny shooting.

I wouldn't say you're alone. I'm a fan of Hump's. But i wouldn't say give him more minutes. I'm pretty content with the PT he's getting now. a change of a few minutes here and there won't hurt.

I think Sam's gotta play him when his services are "in need" and not really in excess of that.

Kay, I forgot to clarify myself. I'm not saying he should get 30+ minutes per game, but definitely not the 5 minutes he got for the 2 games prior to last night's. I'd like to see Humps maybe get a maximum 20 to 23 minutes per game at least. Not too much and definitely not too little like he's been recently getting.

I think he actually has been passing more, and looking for his own scoring less, to the point where he has become a nice role player. He still needs to be on his game to stay on the floor though. There's no point in keeping him out there if he's ineffective at doing what he's best at.

Toughness and rebounding will also improve once TJ is back in the fold. As long as the defense is not scrambling to counter guards blowing by their defenders effortlessly, the rebounding will not be a major concern. Note that did not happen all that much last night, and when it did, the Knicks scored without needing a rebound. And if Bargnani does not add to that mix, then there are real concerns as to the direction the team is going in. I still think he'll answer the call, but maybe not so much this season.
