Good ratings for Raptors home opener

A Big Night for the Raptors. A Slam Dunk for The Score.
The Score attracts record regular season Raptors audience

TORONTO, Oct. 29 /CNW/ - Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR) today announced that it drew a record audience of 420,000 during last night's broadcast of the Toronto Raptors first regular season game, with a peak audience of 741,000 during the last half-hour. As the Raptors delivered a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, The Score delivered the highest regular season Raptors audience across any Canadian network within the last decade.

"With a previous Raptors regular season high of 238,000 viewers on our network, we are ecstatic about the audience for last night's game," says John Levy, Chairman and CEO, Score Media Inc. "The buzz around this place yesterday was one of pure excitement and from our pre-game interviews to our post-game recap, we feel that our unique approach to covering basketball and our strong relationships with our basketball partners have contributed to this growing success."

Taking into account last night's sports line-up, featuring a Toronto Maple Leafs game and Game One of the World Series, The Score's ratings are even more impressive particularly within the 18-34 demo where the broadcast outscored the World Series game with an average audience of 103,000.

I was really disappointed with the quality of the HD on the score..... it used to be good, aside from the annoying bars at the bottom. But last night it looked not as crisp, especially compared with the baseball game.

It looked crisp to me. And as far as the bar at the bottom of the screen i couldn't care less. They shrink it down anyway so i barely notice. I prefer the SN or TSN broadcasts for clarity and full screen, but i couldn't care less because i'd rather watch it on my 42' Plasma then my 17' computer.

Yeah there were times when it was choppy. Then again, RapsTV has been awful for that lately as well.

same here, only good thing about it was that it sounded louder than score alone

I have to agree with you. I was watching it in my HD Satellite on a 12' screen and normally it comes in pristine. Last night there was definitely something amiss as the color was really poor quality and the picture seemed almost painted over. Never seen that before with Score. Probably someone forgot to flip a switch somewhere. I've seen it where it started like that and than they correct it to perfect and after next commercial they have to do it all again. Last night there was no correction by the production staff as it remained that way the whole game.

Mine was also choppy at several points. I'm with Rogers and in downtown Toronto - did anybody have the choppy green-bars problem who is with any other providers or in a different location?

Nice rating. That was a sick game no doubt that there was that many people watching it

Not good news for the Leafs, but who cares? I watched the whole Raptor game instead and was rewarded with a great game. I've seen about all from the Leafs that I care to this season.
given the option, even Burke couldn't stomach watching the Loafs last night.

I actually like the Score. I'm happy they're doing well.

And the ACC was having HD issues. They were complaining about it on the Cav's forum (that I was lurking)
