Goals for this season?

What are yours as a fan? What would you be happy with? Is it playoffs or development? Is it simply staying healthy? I haven't seen this thread yet and seeing how we're approaching training camp, it's a good question to ask.

1) Stay healthy (relatively)
2) Contend for the playoffs (preferably getting in)
3) Good development from Valanciunas, Ross
4) Trade Jose if the PG stuff becomes a distraction (hopefully for a SF)
5) Slight improvement defensively (possibly top 10 from 12th last season)
6) Seeing improvements from DD (mainly with his stregth)
7) Fields plays more like he did as a rookie

I'd like to see 13 or 21 game Bargs for the whole season. I'd like to see a stronger Demar that doesnt settle for jumpers and improves defensively. I'd like to see a top 10 pg in Lowry. I'd like to see Ross try Derozan for his spot and for JVal making the starting 5. I'd like to see Kleiza play like the healthy sf that tore up training camp and preseason not to long ago and I would not like wanna see last year's Amir or Fields.

For the team i'm hoping they can become a top 10 defensive team in the NBA while improving offensively from among the worst to league average.

^That's a playoff team, but i dont think all those things happen although i'm hoping they do because i'd like to cheer for the raptors in the playoffs. but for the most part if we've clearly improved as a team and are playing meaningful games up until the very end i cant be too disappointed.

-Defensive commitment from Demar Derozan. A better handle from Demar and attacking the rim and getting to the line more consistently.
- Bargnani getting traded (Rudy Gay, Tyreke Evans)

completey agree with everything jeff has said.

i would add if jose gets traded i wouldn't mind seeing either one of amir or davis shipped out with him if it means getting back a starting caliber SF

The Grizz are never trading Gay until it turns into a Hawks-esque situation. If one scenario could happen this year it would be a Calderon + 2nd Rounder or Amir (preferably 2nd rounder) for Josh Smith at the deadline for a playoff push. Then roll the dice and see if he'll resign here. :cookie:

It'll probably take 5-years 80 mill

He's going into the 3rd year of his contract i believe and unless they can start going deeper in the playoffs i can see them doing something next summer. Otherwise they won't have the money to start adding more pieces.

Trading Bargnani for Tyreke would be a huge (and I emphasize huge) mistake.

Why does Atlanta make that deal? Amir makes 6.5 million in 2013/2014 and then makes a tiny bit over 7 million (non-guaranteed though) in 2014/2015. Also, what Amir and Jose make this season is more than what JSmoove makes by almost 2.6 million.

My goal as a fan is to find a healthy balance between watching basketball on television and my family.

I'm not a bargs fan by any stretch but I agree completely.

Clarity. For the sense of direction this team will take. And for my brain, as I will be looking for some of the same sort of balance bjjs alluded to.

LKeet6 09-29-2012 03:45 AM

1.) our players improve. (mostly talking about young guys here but i lnclude lowry and bargs.)
2.) the team plays well. (slight improvement on D, big improvement on O.)

if those things happen playoffs is a very gettable goal.

lmao we might as well rebuild again after a move like that

carp 09-29-2012 12:38 PM

Trading Ed and Jose for Tyreke and only having to throw in a second rounder to make it happen.

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 09-29-2012 02:40 PM

- Stay healthy
- Fight for a playoff spot
- Improvement throughout the year for Val
- Defense, Defense, Defense
- Lowry to be a leader and take his game to the next level. All star PG level.
- Some great DD dunks(not really a goal, I just want him to bring the fans to their feet)
- Bargnani rebounding improvement

Dark Knight 09-29-2012 04:18 PM

Playoffs.
