Hmm didnt want to post that but since Jay did, im thinking along the same lines... IF getting healthy for international play so he can catch a real big beatdown by a very motivated team USA is the most important thing for this guy, release him and send him back to europe to play for much less $.

A very motivated team USA got beaten by a Crappy Greece team in the semis of world champion.
And that greek team got beaten by 30 points by Spain, in the finals.
Is not that easy, and if the americans go with the mentality that they are invincible, they will lose again.

In every sport, playing for your country is the biggest honor, if he is healthy he should go.

If you havent noticed the americans consider winning an NBA championship > playing for their country for free.... they never really sent their best players, and the ones that did go didnt look all that interested...

Im willing to bet the farm that not only does America win it all this time around, they send a big beatdown to everyteam they play, they finally got the right coach and a mix of truely the best players (come on we all loved AD and such, but he was on TEAM USA at one time?), who want to prove once and for all that America has the best players (is there really any doubt?) and can put their differences aside and to have the best team...

All you international player/team loving fans that have mocked Team USA have now awaken the sleeping giant, not very wise imo.

If they can learn to play the international game...and put their ego's aside, they will smoke everyone..no doubt..but the room for error is getting smaller and smaller.

i do agree with that, the leaps the international teams have made are no joke, if you told me these countrys could compete with usa 10 years ago i would have laughed, but its definately not a laughing matter anymore...

With that said i think you hit it on the head, the problem has been ego's and lack of teamwork vs teams that spend WAY WAY more time together and prepare and know each other so much better, if team usa had the meetings and practice schedule in the past of some of these international teams, as well as the bonding experiences and knowing eachothers games they wouldnt be in the spot they are in now.

They didnt send their best players?

2006 World Championship: finished 3rd among 24 teams

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Antawn Jamison, Brad Miller, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Elton Brand, Shane Battier, Kirk Hinrich, Chris Paul, Joe Johnson (Coach: Mike Krzyzewski)

Those are not the best players?, Dont you think an starting 5 of lebron, wade, carmelo. howard. paul would be the players on the NBA?

That team got beaten by a crappy greek team.
They have the mos talent, but they need to play like a team, not like a bunch of superstars.

The States are idiots. They figured they'd could keep sending their best college players and winning. When they lost they made the excuse that all the other teams sent pros and FIBA allowed NBA players to participate. Now they've got their pros playing and after 2000 they can't win a friggin' thing because the rest of the world plays better basketball.

no the world plays a better team game, and yes i dont like a lineup of all superstars that always want the ball... usa needs to be smart and insert more roll players in the lineup. Anyways mark my words a big beatdown is coming, the naysayers will be put down and then the usa will stop sending pro's altogether

as long as they dont win, they are not better. Basketball is a team game. You cant play team basketbal=you dont play good basketbal.

I said i agree, team usa didnt play well as a team, but they are clearly way more talented, but they picked the wrong ppl and didnt give them enough time to gel as proven that almost every player scored much less then their average, less superstars + more roll players at that time would have done them well, but this coming olympics, usa is betting the farm on, and i wont bet against them is all im saying, most of the teams u are speaking off practice and play 2gether what? 50x more then team usa? Its a joke to me most of these tournys as euro's are going nuts and the average american rather watch march madness then FIBA.. and if u deny that your delusional

Maybe you mean the teams are stronger in the euro's which i would prob agree since the talent pool in NCAA is so huge and so spread out among what? 40-50 top teams... but to say theres more overall talent in euro league is nuts, the ones that are good enough to make the nba... usually make the nba

No I mean teams, not talent. Obviously, theres more talent in the NCAA. But as teams, not even close.

Pimpery, american scouts have said that the second league (LEB) in Spain have many teams better than NCAA teams.

Second league, no the first league (ACB).

i was referring to the talent as a whole, not the individual teams, obviously some teams are going to be strong with older experienced players, but the NCAA as a whole as way more NBA player potential and is way deeper

It's deeper because USA is a bigger country.

NBA player potential, well, the NBA like the athletic players and those are the americans.

I read some time ago (last summer maybe) what Jason Kidd thought about the european players in the NBA.
He said that american guys could handle the ball, run, rebound, dunk, ect, while the european guys knew what they had to play with the ball in every moment.

So if you are talking about NBA player potential, I agree with you, but if you are talking about talent pool, then I disagree.

JMO.
