are they all out?
our only chance at winning this is if we can stomp them right away and take a lead into the 4th.
suns played last night and that was a tough, high scoring affair... they're probably gased, and they're on the road, so thats another advantage for us.

i'm going to say raps win.

OK lads and ladies .... game thread is officially up along with the Yahoo preview.

I'm not 100% with the Raps line-up, but I'm assuming that Bargs and Bosh will continue to rest and that Ford's gonna give it another kick at the can tonight.

I think the Suns will win by a small margin. 108-103 for Phoenix.

Phoenix will be blowing them out for 3 quarters, and with garbage time imminent in the 4th, the Raptors will have a chance to close the gap.

nay sayers!

I honestly think that we should stack up better than we have in the past.

Pheonix doesn't really play defense, but we have actually started to do so.

With as many sharp shooters as we have, i still think we can put up the offense to compete.

This one's going to be about getting some stops. Easier said than done, but totally possible.

should be an entertaining game.

I like how we match up against the Suns this year more than in the past...but it's going to require a shoot the lights out kinda night for us to win. We have a couple bodies that can deal with Amare to a degree...Hill does crappy against us... Moon will defend Marion and Jose has been playing great lately. Bargnani would be nice in this one to get Amare away from the rim... but what can ya do.

Keys for Suns win:

1. Show up at ACC on time

Keys for Raps win:

1. Lock Nash in his hotel room
2. Get Amare stuck in hotel elevator
3. Play hard defense
4. Make shots

PHX' starting lineup is going to be tired from yesterdays tough win in Indy. Diaw and Barbosa stank it up and only played like 30 minutes combined, so expect them to see a lot of minutes, thus giving us a better chance to win. We NEED one of Bosh or Bargs to play, but to be honest I'd rather see Bosh rest this game and come back near 100% healthy vs the Celts if possible.

Suns 107 Raps 100

WOW .... I guess I'm the only overly pessimistic Raptors fan for tonight's match-up.

PHX is gonna be tired and they're going to have equal trouble stopping our pick and roll game as long as we knock down our shats. Our ball movement has picked up the past few games and we should have them on their toes, Bosh and Bargs or not.

And interesting suggestion was brought up on RGM, that being putting Moon on Nash, which I dont think is a bad idea at all, even though whoever covers Amare will in a sense be the primary Nash defender on the screens, but generally Nash struggles a bit more with long lanky guys on him rather than guys his size(see Josh Howard, Bowen etc.) It's definately worth a try.

113-108. Suns win.

Raps will come out hot, and blow it in the 2nd half as they seem to do against good teams. I don't think we have an answer for Barbosa who I think will play big minutes tonight. Only time will tell.

I hope I'm wrong

No offence to you as the messenger but nothing that comes out of RG is all that interesting

Nash is way too smart and quick for Moon to be effective...Moon will be far more useful clogging up the passing lanes, making guys think twice about entering the paint and altering shots.

I also debate the statement that PHX will be tired... they are probably the most fit team in the league... other than perhaps a Grant Hill I would not bank a second on them being tired.

If you slow down Nash you slow down the Suns. If Jamario can fuck up his rhythm with his quickness and quick hands Nash could have a 8 turnover game like he is prone to do sometimes and the game will turn into a defensive struggle where we'll have a chance to win at the end without Bargs and Bosh. Even if its Parker on him that's good, just not Jose.

Every team is fatigued on back to backs, I mean they lost to LAL at home by 30 and to ATL on the road on back to backs already this year.

UPDATE GUYS!: from Doug Smith's blog.

The real T.J. Ford, that is.

After two aborted attempts to come back from an arm and hand injuries, Ford said this morning he finally feels like himself, good enough to back up Jose Calderon against Steve Nash, who is generally considered the best point guard in the NBA.

So I was bang on with my starting line-ups for tonight.

If they play fast and loose on offense they have a shot. It's all going to come down to the No-No's and Parker.

Granger damn near hit a three to put last night's game vs the Suns into overtime. Damn - that would have helped.

We need to slow the game down. If we get into a track meet then we might as well throw it away. Hell, throw out both TJ and Jose on at the same time to make sure the offence runs efficently and we hit our shots. Then we have a shot.

And Hump, if Amare takes it to the hole, slam him to the ground and kick him. I don't care what you do. Just don't let him dunk the damn ball. Force him to hit jumpers.

Amares good at hitting jumpers, I would just sag on their pick and roll with the wing player and not let Amare catch it, but rather let Grant Hill shoot corner 3's all day. Getting Rasho in foul trouble=us losing.
