no way - he'll be coach until 2009. Book it. No way Colangelo goes with Mitchell when he's finished assembling this roster. Sam is good (supposedly) with building a team - he is not a "brainy" coach, and I doubt he'll get there in 2 years.

Only way BC can's him is if they don't make the playoffs within the next couple seasons. If they miss the playoffs or having a losing record half way through one of the upcoming seasons with no substantial injuries then it'll be close too.

But it'll be interesting to hear the post game interview tonight because you can guarantee Sam will chalk up tonight's loss because they lost Bosh.

Listen guys, I know some of you hate Mitchell, but there was nothing he could've done short of suiting up himself and going out and laying a hurt on someone that could've stopped tonight's piss-poor effort by these supposed professionals.

sure, I mean it's not like this happens almost every game ...

We are the worst team in the league at defending penetration, it's a rare night when the other team's sg/sf don't have career games against us. And there's always somebody to blame. Tonight, we got mutilated, but Sam played the entire half with almost the same team, only delfino, kapono and moon changed places. It was one of the most embarassing games I've ever seen - and this against a lousy team playing without their best 3 guys???

Totally agree ACIE, but seriously how can we not be frustrated with this team right now? I understand the bigger picture is still another 3 to 4 years away, but when you see how relatively weak the Eastern Conference is there's no reason why we couldn't be closer to the Celtics in the standings with the talent we have on paper.

Sure the players have to be held accountable, but how can we honestly be taken seriously when we lose games to team like the Pacers, Clippers and NY? I mean seriously ... if this team wants to make their mark then there's no excuse for this. For all we know the players are starting to block out and not listening to Mitchell. I don't know, something just isn't sitting well with me and this team right now.

And what's making me mad is that there seems to be this weird feeling around the team that we're somehow overachieving or something ... At this time of the season, all good teams are starting to play harder, they become more focused - we seem to be very complacent, there's no sense of urgency. Orlando is only 3 games away, and our only chance of doing anything in the playoffs is to avoid playing Cleveland. You can't lose 4 games in 2 weeks against teams like this - it's inexcusable.

*sigh*

We win a couple of games and everyone thinks we're knocking on the door of the upper crust of the NBA, we lose and there's strife and turmoil behind the scenes and the whole thing is crumbling to the ground. lol

Guys we're not that good of a team, combined with a poor effort and a Pacers team that came out really hungry and there you have it, for me atleast.

I'm banning myself from this thread because I need to relax tonight before two gigs in less than twelve hours of each other Saturday and Sunday.

For the past few weeks, every Friday we lose to a bad team, the perfect way to begin a weekend ...

That I've never thought, but in a weak Eastern Conference I'll admit I've had bigger expectations. But yes, you're absolutely right .... we aren't as strong overall as many like to think .... but with the roster we have there still isn't an excuse for others not to step up when your star goes down.

he'll be ok - he had the injury from Monday, if it was anything serious, they would've shut him down earlier.

Apparently its the knee that he hurt on Wednesday night against Minny. So after only playing 9 minutes tonight he apparently couldn't continue.

If anything, let him sit and rest for the next week or so, because its not like we're going anywhere anytime soon standings wise. It's seems we're destined for that 5th spot and a post season meeting with Cleveland.

not so fast ... maybe this is Sam's brilliant strategy: at this point, it's better to be the 6th seed than the 5th. So maybe we'll tank a few games, get us closer to the 6th seed, and, depending on Cleveland's chances of getting the #3 seed, we'll keep our options open ...

Come-on guys, it's one loss. I really don't think it's fair to say this team "should" be up there with Boston and Detroit, our roster isn't good enough yet, we all know that. Weak rebounding, too much jumpshooting, no rock solid defenders.

I think what we have to realize is that we'll be seeing this team in the playoffs for the next ten years. It's not a big deal that we're not contending right now. If anything we're fortunate for turning things around so quickly, just think about only 2 years ago... We were in the Rob Babcock, Mike James 20ppg era. When you look at teams like the Atlanta Hawks who have been crappy forever and can't turn it around, things are fine. I'm happy with my Raptors.

We'll probably beat Charlotte and Orlando(we always own them) and then the world will be righted again, no?

Well that's proven impossible now. I mean if we couldn't do it with this stretch, we're not going to. After we beat the Nets and Magic we realistically should've and could've gone on an 8 game tear and caught up to 3rd. I mean we had the Knicks twice, Indy twice, Minnesota, and Charlotte. Oh well, bring on the Lebrons.

I think our best chance is the next 5 games. Charlotte, Orlando, and then Miami, Washington, and Seattle. But I bet we lose at least one, I actually think the Heat is the one we'll get beat on. There's also a stretch at the beginning of April with two games against the Nets, and games against the Hawks, Bucks, and Cats, but all but the last will be fighting for a playoff spot so it won't be easy. I think the Nets with Harris will beat us at least once, I mean I'd love to sweep Vince, but I don't think it'll happen.

It's not so much the loss, as it's the fact that we're near the end of the season, and we still haven't learned simple things. I understand our defenders are not top-notch, they can't keep up with Kobe and Lebron, or even with Dunleavy and Crawford. But seeing Rush, Diener and Daniels doing whatever they liked tonight, that was just too much to take. Everybody is doing the same thing to us, and there doesn't seem to be any solution in sight ...
