Happy ending...

Its like we spotted them the whole first half and then Bosh came back with a vengeance.
Props to Delfino, Humphries, Rasho and Jose - thats what I call depth!

TJ was trying really hard in the first half to get his shot going and lost the ball multiple times running into multiple defenders. When Caldy got into the game everyone gets involved and they find the open man for easier shots. It was like nite and day when Jose came on.

TJ seems to hold onto the ball too long and everyone stays stationary so he ends up taking an ill-advised fadeaway. TJ did play decent defense in the first half tho.

I think so Belsius ..... much better ball movement on the offensive side eventhough Jose's stats might not show it, but even on the defensive end Jose helped create many opportunities that led to Houston turnovers.

Bias aside, I love Ford but the more and more Jose is called upon he plays like a floor general should which just makes it that more important for BC to pull a rabbit out of his hat and see if he can find a suitor for Ford and his large contract.

TJ played confused today while Jose had a good but not spectacular game. In the first half both were kind of out of sync ... the second half, TJ made some mistakes although the team played well enough to close on Rockets in the third quarter and then Jose finished the game playing good but with some unadvised jumpers. Not the best night for Folderon, I would say! But Bosh and Delfino came out big to help win this one!

It was almost night and day. I was at the game today, and watching the game I could tell TJ was just playing like shit. He had some good runs, but Calderon played better and the team flowed so much better with him out there. After the game I checked his stats, and TJ was 1-9 for 3 points, 4 dimes, 3 turnovers, 2 steals... Jose, in an equal 23 minutes went 3-6 with 7 points, a steal and 6 dimes, on ZERO turnovers.
-------------

We were down 16-2 in the first quarter with TJ for some reason back in the starting lineup.

TJ was on the floor when we made our big run in the third quarter: we started the 3rd quarter down 45-34 (Parker swished a three off a Bosh pass 19 seconds into the quarter and from that point on we ate away at their lead little by little).

When TJ was subbed out in the third, we were leading 54-52 [3:22 left in the 3rd]. By the end of the 3rd quarter, with Calderon keeping the pace smooth, we led 62-56.

Calderon subsequently played almost the ENTIRE 4th quarter (subbed out with 1:04 to play) and when he was taken out we led 91-76! So basically from when Calderon subbed in in the 3rd quarter our lead increased 13 points.

The telling stat was the +/-. TJ somehow miraculously finished with a +5 rating (his abysmal 1st quarter was offset by the third quarter), while Calderon finished with a +10.

Our team leader was Delfino, with an amazing +30 (I shit you not!). That means with Delfino on the court we outscored them by 30 freakin' points!!!

I came from Ottawa to attend this game and wasnt disappointed. My thought on the game:

The Raptors cheerleaders are 10x hotter in person.

There were a TON of amazingly fine malasyan(dunno if thats the right term or w/e, but light skinned chicks) at the game today, it was worth goin just for the eye candy, haha.

Ok, now to the game. The Rockets moved the ball extremely well in the first half, even though we were really getting what we wanted besides on the Yao double teams resulting in wide open 3's. Mcgrady was taking standstill shots with Moon and Delfino right in his grill but hitting. Our offence was putrid, but it was their defence as well. They were locked into our shooters, but also wouldnt let TJ get his shot off clean either, they werent even going under the screens and were defending both things insanely well. They passed the ball really nice also when the bench came in, Scola WILL be their starting PF by years end if they intend to instill that high post offence the entire year, but the 2nd half they didnt run one play in the high post, it was like their ugly ass offence last year with JVG except Mcgrady couldnt break us down anymore.

After the first few minutes I thought we would have to go with a small lineup like we did in Houston last year when we won by spreading them out and playing quick, but that wasnt the case surprisingly. I thought a Bosh/Moon/Delfino/Parker/Jose or TJ lineup would be best in defending them since it would force Yao to defend a shooter or Bosh and thus getting our offence off, but I was wrong thankfully.

2nd half was sort of a blur. It seemed like they werent even getting shots off most possessions and we were playing Celtic like swarming D. Mcgrady stopped taking his usual pullups and started driving into traffic for some reason, and Yao stopped getting the ball. Humphries did his best Dirk impression and Bosh his best KG impression on D, and we started playing faster with Jose in and moving the ball to get wide open shots. Nice to see Bosh not Dirking it vs Tmac, just backing him down and shooting right over him.

The main thing I noticed this game is how much Steve Francis especially sucks, but Mike James as well. You'd think he'd know how to get his game off playing with 2 superstars, just stand in the corner and shoot the open shot you idiot. Instead, he did his best MJ in toronto impersonation and tried driving it to the rim off self called ISO's and ended up missing by a ton or just getting blocked. Hes such a hardhead idiot.

Great win. Can't wait til next Saturday, going back to TO for the Sunday affair vs the Celts, hopefully Bosh and Bargs are fully loaded by then and we can give them their 3rd loss of the season.

Lastly, take it easy on jumping the gun with Moon the past 2-3 games. He just played like 6 straight games with 35+ minutes carrying most of the load on the defensive end, once our lineup is fully healthy again his role on offence especially should become more apparent and easier with tons of open looks, and he'll have his legs back on D playing less minutes and not having to do as much. Hes not tanking it out there, he'll get back to being the monster on D he once was and his stellar play from the last few weeks will continue because he is that damn good on defence.

well that was a nice little bounce-back game.

Very releaved to see Bosh not miss a beat in his return. He showed everyone once again that he is the leader of this sqaud. Big up to his defensive "prowess" - the man was hungry out there.

The Moon for Delfino substitution was a great move by Sam at the begining of the 3rd quarter. Delfino is more and more looking like the one of Colangelo's best pickups. Carlos has such a nice, well rounded game. Great shot, great work ethic - knows exactly when to mix it up and take the ball inside. Carlos is the man.

and ya thrills.. Mike James is a wanker. It made me smile to see his shitty, me-first, one on one bullshit NOT work out in his favour.

All in all: a great character building win.

Gotta love Yao and TMac's post game comments stating the Raps did nothing of consequence defensively..only that the Rockets failed to make their shots. I hope the team remembers that next time they play

Nice review thrills and I look forward to your impressions next weekend when you catch the Celts in Toronto. Would be awesome to get feedback about this team especially from a "Live" point of view.

Unfortunately, I doubt there will be as many good looking chicks next week compared to this one. Those light skinned girls are the hottest by far.

Cant wait til next week, the atmosphere should be 5x more electric because it's such a huge game with such huge stars. Hopefully everyones back and it goes down to the wire again, but this time Darrick Murray hitting the game winner over Allen.

You were at the game, Thriller? I met up with Wu and met his adorable son.. no kidding - that was the cutest kid I've seen in a LONG time.

I'll be at the game next week Thriller. My sister's coming in from Halifax, so I'm taking her.
I saw the cheerleaders and they're nothing special. Katherine used to be nice until she lost 10-15 pounds.

As for this game, nice to see the guys got their heads out of the clouds. I'm surprised T-Mac still gets booed. I'm surprised guys like Mike James and Steve Francis didn't get booed more often.
*Why doesn't Battier get the ball more often?
*Why wasn't Rafer starting?
*Deke needs to STFU. He's always the first one up complaining. How come he doesn't get slapped with a tech? It's funny. He doesn't even sit with the players anymore during time outs. He stands away with the rest of the coaches.
*I expected more out of Scola
*That Battier for Gay/Swift trade looks awful for Houston
*Steve Francis is done
*Mike James was the same ol Mike James, not passing up the ball, just chucking up shots
*I don't think Yao could jump over a phone book. I think he's got a 3 inch vertical.
*Houston has an all-world team but just looked really disinterested. I don't get it.
*I like Delfino. He brings it pretty much every night
*Can Bosh play the same way every night the same way he played yesterday afternoon?
*For 2.5 mil a season, Hump really earns his money.
