Sorry I don't believe in fairy tales.

Anyways, if you were BC would you "tank hard" this year and trade Jose? Losing fan interest won't be much of a problem since it was evident last night that there were more Lin fans in the building than Raptor fans. As I said before, start from the bottom and build a proper team. Fan interest will come back again when we start winning.

New reason:

Trade Jose so that every thread does not become about Jose.

Wait, then every thread might be about Bosh again. Okay, maybe we should keep Jose for a while. Ah, shit, I don't know.

The problem with that isn't the fans (yes, our fans will still show).... it's the players themselves.

If you tank too hard and it seems like you aren't even TRYING to win you'll turn players off and they'll look to get out of there ASAP. Also makes them develop bad habits that are tough to shake.

OK, while we are waiting for 'trane to come back...

I absolutely want the highest pick possible in this draft and would also love to get another one in the first round if I can. However, there are 2 major problems with tanking to achieve that:

1. It's still a lottery, so the chances are very good that even if you have the worst record, you won't get #1 overall (see history). Regardless, the odds would be better, just don't forget the correlation is not a direct one.

2. You'd be surprised how many people turn out to support the team every night, even without Lin in town. Knicks' game was an aberration, not a rule. By openly gutting the team (and trading Caldy without getting a decent replacement back would be just that), you would signal to the fans that you are throwing the towel in terms of even being competitive (staying in games) this season. That's a serious blow.

3. On proper team. Where/when are you planning to get the next starting PG?

Let's summarize all this craziness.

Trane said Jose sucks down the stretch of games and should be traded, but he has been playing great overall.

(he did suck down the stretch)

Torap and Mike are saying something about how he is carrying the team, and can develop other players, but agree with Thriller that he should be traded.

Lets all just agree on these points;

1. That was embarrassingly bad defense on the final possession.

2. On a whole, Jose has been playing very good basketball

3. If the price is right, Bc should trade Jose

1. Disagree. Jose knew he couldn't defend both the shot and the penetration and so defended the dribble-drive. Yes, as a result, he was a tad late on the shot. IMHO, they should've tried to trap Lin with two players instead of allowing for an ISO.

2. Agree.

3. Depending on your definition of the right price, that's true about any player in the league.

I will still try to work with 'trane on basic human psychology...

I agree.

Now time to debate "the right price".

Oh, trust me, if LeBron or Wade were offered for Bosh, even TORap would've been all over it. If the price is right...

Oh, and I learned one thing from this thread.

You probably can't invite Mike and 'trane to the same cocktail party.

You lose Mike...#1 was a test question

Disagreeing with #1 exposes you as either

a) having just a casual fan's knowledge on the sport of basketball

or

b) A Jose fanatic who can't believe he can do wrong.

Nothing wrong with either.

It's a fact, it was horrible defense. Can't disagree with fact.

I am more partial to the tail parties anyway.

Actually, I don't expect anyone to remember but I was actually hoping that IF we traded Bosh it would be for the Clips' #1 pick so we could draft Griffin.

I just wasn't crazy about dealing him for David Lee, Boozer or Amare.... which people seemed to think was a good trade at the time lol. Funny how opinions change eh?

You always need cock to put in the tail. Do you go to tail parties sans your cock?

Oh, such heavy-handedness. Mercy!

How about this one: Jose has played the best defense on Lin that he could play in the physical state he was in with the capabilities he possesses. He made a choice and stuck with it.

If you were in Jose's shoes, you would've obviously managed to prevent both the drive and the three-point shot, right? Have you ever tried to cover a good shooter and good dribbler on the perimeter one-on-one?
