#1 - You've made your millions already. Get off the cross already - we need the wood!

#2 - the more important point: Bargnani hasn't improved every year -- remember his awful second season? This is yet another regression year from Bargnani. For a #1 pick he really doesn't put that much effort into his conditioning either. Yes he looks like he's in better shape now than a couple years ago, but, again, you're a #1 pick and you can't put in the effort to be in world class shape? Bargs always starts games lights out from the floor, often scoring 4 or 5 buckets in the first quarter, then he just gets gassed.

Bargnani is the Joe Barry Carroll of the 21st century (for you younger readers: look it up). The similarities are striking. He's another 7 foot PF/C uber-talented #1 pick who Peter Vecsey aptly nicknamed "Joe Barely Cares".

---------

I don't think Bargnani is being honest with himself about his off-season effort and conditioning regimen. I really don't. Nothing about him strikes me as being a hard worker, or giving a shit about effort. I think this "Il Mago" shit is going to his head. I think he goes back to Italy and makes a bunch of excuses and people there buy it. How is he shooting around half as many free throws per game as the last two seasons? For such a great shooter, why is he under 40% from the field? His newfound post up game doesn't make up for the fact that he's averaging 4.4 boards - the lowest total in 5 years, and an absolute disgrace for a 7 footer. Kyle Lowry is out rebounding him in fewer minutes!

Bargnani is 27 years old -- essentially his prime, and he's regressed in every statistical category. I can't really describe his performance as anything other than disappointing.
--------

Rewind to 2006. Bargs was supposed to be the 5-year project, who needed his body to catch up to his lanky 7 foot frame. LaMarcus Aldridge was the safe, "easy" pick of that draft, but Bargs would be the better long term prospect. Instead, LMA has put in work and he, not Bargs, can legitimately make the claim that he's gotten better every season. Bargnani peaked 2 seasons ago and this injury should be a fucking wakeup call.

i find it ironic how Bargnani is claiming the raps are the worst in the NBA (well it is hard to argue that claim) but it is ironic because Bargnani is the biggest factor contributing to our situation. It has only been two games so far but it is phenomenal how much better we are definively without the primo pasta scrub in the lineup not to mention i would rather see ed davis attacking the basket than Bargnani camping out behind the three point line and to worried about being physical on the glass because he does not want to ruin his manicure.

Can't believe people are so quick to believe what ever is written from "La Gazzetta Dello Sport" with all the translations and shit.

They can spin a story any way they want.

The problem is not from the translation. In the italian version of the article, he's saying that the team is almost the worst in the NBA.

I just think Bargs was less carefull, because he was being interviewed by an italian journalist; la Gazetta is a quite serious sport newspaper, I don't think he was tricked in any way by the journalist.

His words were probably lost in translation.

No, no, no, no. Wait. In the article he never says: "We're the worst team in the league", that's a bullshit that newspaper wrote as a title, but it ain't what he really told. He was actually misunderstood, cause he said: "Nothing has been working since the beginning of the season. We are almost the worst team in the NBA: during the summer, trades were made to build a winning team, but we're not winning. We're under any expectation. Nobody got used to play with each other and we won just 4 games. It's tragic. It's 4 years we're keeping losing: the only thing to do to improve is to win and we haven't done it yet"

He just said the truth: summer trades should have improved the team, but the Raptors have one of the worst record in the league. Frankly, what's the matter? I criticized him when it was time to do it, but now is the Gazzetta which diverted what Barg said, cause that "We're the worst team in the league", without all the content, only creates misunderstandings and all.

Also, Barg said:

Andrea Bargnani says he was misquoted
Andrea Bargnani says he was misquoted by the Italian media outlets and vehemently denied calling the Raptors the worst team in the league.

ps: that newspaper is really one of the worst in Italy (writes about soccer for half of the pages, just a quarter for all the other sports with another quarter regarding the news section) as almost all of the italian sport newspapers.

Anytime an Italian news is copied you all should be careful to translate each part of the article well and don't stop to the title.

Yes, the word "almost" is missing in the title, but to me it was not the main issue here. I'm more concerned about the end of the interview where he says that he's been improving each year?!

To me, last year he showed improvement in D, this year is like he's dead. I really can't understand why he had such an involution.
