The team is full of tall men and if Barbosa doesn't resign another SG/SF is needed. As the Raptors won't be a contender for the title I don't really see big names coming here. I don't think players like M. Gasol or Chandler are changing teams and there are no other proper centers worth grabbing.

Let's try to be realistic. Von Wafer anyone? Marquis Daniels, Maurice Evans.
T-Mac lol, Jason Kapono double lol

Or take someone young from the D league.

Once you're in the league, you're in the league.

You want to play with the best players. No one ran away from Divac, Peja, Dirk, etc. Hell, the Kings were a Euro team and contended.

We just suck right now. It's going to take time and patience, something alot of this fan base lacks.

Most fanbases lack patience. We're not exactly exclusive there and this franchise is well supported for what they've been given in return. I just think most fans had their heart set on a couple other prospects, myself included. And when that doesn't happen we vent. I pray this kid is as good as they say he is and today after the dust has settled and I've heard some of reasoning and what he's projected to be I feel better about it, which also usually happens.

So that's the excuse? Most fan bases lack patience so we need to be like everyone else huh?

Excellent.

Better to be a follower than to set an example

And yet again, not really addressing my entire point of saying players will play anywhere. Oh well.....

a center makes perfect sense to sign. jonas can stay in europe. teams bolsters frontcourt.

and its kind od looking like barbo goes so we will have alot of space especially since the contract of jv wont count against our cap. if barbo opts out and everyone but weems or wright is let go then team will have close to 20 million in capspace.

chandler is a real option as he has said many times that he loves casey, and he was genuinly excited about the possibility of being a rap before mj.

we could theoretically sign both him and a sg/sf combo with 20 million.

If Chandler can be had starting at 11 or 12 or 13 million it would leave a nice bit to offer a sf.

Afflalo, Young, Thorton all possibilities and fill a need.

Jose/Bayless
Demar/Weems or Afflalo
Young or JJ/Kleiza
Bargs/Amir
Chandler/Davis/JV

What do you do when you win a ring especially being 28?

a) You resign and hope that the team ads a couple of new players to become stronger.

b) You sign for more money with a rebuilding team.

If Chandler signs with Toronto he is clearly insane.

Why would Chandler or any quality FA of his age want to play for a rebuilding team for the length of what will be his last contract?

One thing I will say, is that if there's a hardcap (supposedly 62Mil)when all is said and done Dallas won't have the money to resign him and in fact the Raptors would be one of only a couple team with the money to offer him. Not saying we'll get him, but it's not that insane to think we might.

he likes toronto, he like casey, he likes the idea of being a very crucial part of a team, and by no means would signing a contract with us relegate him to staying forever, players do force trades.

or he could sign a contract with a player option after 2 or 3 years allowing him to leave if he dont like things.

It IS insane to think a quality veteran coming off an NBA championship is going to choose to spend the last years of his career on a team that is not only the worst in the league but isn't even going to be playoff-caliber for another few years. I guess you think it's reasonable to assume when he becomes FA Chris Paul is going to choose TOR over say NY. Ask his agent and you'll probably get laughed at so very very hard.

all depends on how stuff is sold.

City plays a big part, improvement from the pieces here.

MONEY.And who knows if we have capspace, Bargs, Chandler, Ed, Amir, Demar, Bayless, JJ, Kleiza and say Young, maybe paul would want to be here because he knows him playing with these guys could net a 'ship.

I agree, but I would say it a little differently.

Wait for the team to become a playoff team, then add FAs to address weaknesses and turn them into a contender.

Adding expensive free agents at this point will just reinforce mediocrity. Though, I think that the pieces are almost in place. One more high quality young player at PG or SF and we're set. (As long as everyone develops as planned).

I think the big man the raps end up with is Sammy D, plays defense can run the floor. He's got 3-5 years left easy. It will allow Jonas to come in at pf and move to c.

Sammy D - Bargs - ED - Amir -reggie evans ? - alabi

Here's the big list: NBA free agents in 2011 and 2012 - ESPN

For a 2/3 that can shoot there's some decent options:

Shawne Williams
Sasha Vujacic
Anthony Parker (Hmmm... player/assistant?)
Rasual Butler
Sasha Pavlovic

And, some guys that are too high profile (/paycheck) to come off the bench for a rebuilding team:

CJ Miles
Mike Dunleavy
Caron Butler
DeShawn Stevenson
