well our team can never land the big name free agents just because there is always at least 1 other team with money that is always more appealing than our team

so i can only see BC landing middle of the pack FAs and at best try and make trades for the big name guys

We can't land FA because we do what we did tonight. Apparently our players were there tonight and when Valanciunas was announced they were googling him because they had no clue who the fuck he was (according to Akil on RapsTV).

Well Casey said that we plan on getting a center from the FA in the meantime until Jonas comes here.

oden or gasol would be pretty good targets in my opinion
I think we have a real shot at oden if we play our cards right

I think that's easily explained by the fact that our players are clueless when it comes to basketball. We got the player who was widely considered the 3rd best talent in the draft (some had it even higher), whose only downside is his buyout, which at worse means he'll come here next season instead of this one.

I actually want another small role big, since both Amir and Val are known for foul trouble? right?:S wait Val isn't even here next season :/

No one too "big"(as in a big name) , Kwame Brown(I'm not saying he should start. calm.)... any really.. defensive/rebounded minded centre to get the shit mins when Andrea isn't playing D and our bigs are in foul trouble or if one of them gets injured..
If we can aquire a real "big" even better, don't see that happening through free agency but hey, it can happen.
Our roster next year is (From the players who HAVE signed are)

PG: Bayless/ Bayless
Sg: Derozan
Sf: JJ/ Linaz Kleiza (he's injured so he wont be there), juju?
Pf: Ed Davis/ Amir Johnson/ Dorsey?
C: Andrea Bargnani/ Alabi

Assuming Alabi goes to D league, Amir would have nights where he will get into fould trouble, and injury risk for Davis we need to still fill up on big men, not sure if Dorsey is back next year? we're still a real bad team either way, can't be changed this year for sure... we wont aquire much (good) players from FA and don't kid yourself with trading... don't have many players to begin with ...
love how bayless is going to back himself, that obviously takes a special talent. I'm looking forward to the day when he'll play as a starter at both PG and SG, that would truly make him the ultimate combo guard

The only kinds of FA's who sign with rebuilding teams are fringe guys who go from team-to-team on 1-year contracts like older guys looking to hang on for another year or failures looking for a chance to rejuvenate their careers or scrubs looking for more PT because they were stuck behind actual good players.

Michael Grange was on the fan this morning and said he's been told the Raptors plan on going after Tyson Chandler. He did then say he doubts there is much chance they can get him, but said maybe having Casey could help.

If their is serious interest in Tyson, then we can safely assume Jonas is staying in Europe next year

sorry, i don't accept that drafting kemba instead of val would have suddenly made big-time FA and trades want to come to us.

i tell you, its because FAs would rather go somewhere else in general, there's always another team with money too

all the good FAs are american and they would just rather stay in the US than play here, they want to play for the big name franchises, or they want to play in their hometown, or somewhere close to their hometown
there are always exceptions but those are far and few
we have money, but there is always at least 1 other team that has money too, and they usually have 1 of those above reasons that make them more desirable than toronto

Kemba would make us better from day 1... with Jonas it will take day 756

and more winning = more FA's looking

Exactly and everyone knows who he is. Like BC sAid this morning, he would have been the sexy pick. A back court of Kemba/Derozan looks better to Americans then two white Euro bigs one who can't rebound and the other most know nothing about. No matter what you think of that it pretty much is what it is.

On a side note, this thread could've been serious, but has taken a turn for the absurd and disappointing.

And you don't think many American players don't think like that and know more about an NCAA player then euro's? They don't look past their own backyard.
