FoxSports: Derozan might be a star in 2-3yrs

Oh yeah, we're ranked 23rd in their Power Rankings...

Maybe someone should let Grange know that we play an exciting brand of basketball. lol

Still hampered by injuries and a lack of players most here in the States have ever heard of, the Raptors are at least finding ways to beat other bad teams and be competitive on most nights. They play an exciting brand of basketball and are seeing real growth from DeMar DeRozan, who might be a star in two or three years.

derozan turning into a richard jefferson or gerald wallace type of player in 2-3 years would be awesome

jrob23 01-12-2011 01:03 PM

I can definitely see that happening

He's definitely shown glimpses of being a dominant player, not too mention his mid range jump shot is looking nicer and nicer, he's creating more players for himself and other players, basically improving his game in all areas, already matured greatly from the raw athlete that we drafted

i just hope 2k11 increases his rating soon! how the hell is he still a 66?? :confused2::confused2::confused2::confused2:

Just like ED coming into the league wanting to block shots, DeMar comes into the league wanting to attack the rim. These are attributes the Raps have needed for so long. Here's hoping his midrange jumper keeps improving because that opens up the rest of his game so much.

Going into this season that's where he belonged. Especially when you look at the ratings of the players in general. Maybe he'll be a 70 next year?

I agree.

I'd really, really, really love to see him develop a nice pull up jumper. He's got a good first step and if his mid-range never came the pull up would be a nice second option.

Sure, why not.

If you're gonna try to be someone, why not try and be the best?

J-Roc 01-12-2011 02:14 PM

Demar would be light years ahead if his midrange jumper was like his buddy Sonny's.

b55bgc 01-12-2011 02:18 PM

Sonny does have a nice midrange touch.
So does Calderon.

finstock 01-12-2011 02:34 PM

I'd like to see him develop a more consistent floater in the lane. As much as he attacks the rim, he still gets stuffed often due to a lack of elevation.

J-Roc 01-12-2011 02:35 PM

Come to think of it, I've been surprised lately to see him pick up so many charges. If the defender has him, he either needs to pull up or go for a floater. Right now, he's too focused on the dunk.

Speak about 2k ovrls is a little stupid, but here it goes. i using my own edited rosters and his rating is 70 or 71.

I don't think that was the case.... it was closer to everyone hating Bargnani or Calderon than DD.

Many doubted his potential, many considered it less than Weems' potential, few hated him.... they just thought he was overhyped. It's still not a lock that he will be a star... but now we're at least seeing signs that he might be able to.

Jeffb and TORap wanted DD removed from the starting lineup. I don't think they were the only ones, that's just who I remember off the top of my head.

Not everyone. I'm a DD fan and others are also.

Some people just expected him to do this right out of the gate while others thought it would take him a few years to develope his game.

That's the thing about raw athleticism, it acts as a springboard to take you as far as you wanna go.

The hard part is actually putting in the work and being dedicated to getting better.
