as for what LX said, i completely agree. do it for a full season, and then you'll see jose higher on the list.
I wonder if you'll change your mind after Chris Paul wins the MVP this season ...

awards handed out by the press don't effect my opinion.

last season everyone talked about paul when deron was just as equally as impressive. i don't expect things to change until fans stop liking flashier players.

Wow, because beat writers who have been covering a team for NO LESS than 10 years, which is the criteria, couldn't possibly impress a fucking expert like you tuggs?

BAHAHAHA

that is all.

I'm not sure how much of Chris Paul you've watched, but he's not a flashy player at all, he's all about passing and scores only when he has to. It's like Steve Nash with much better quickness and defense, and not as good shooting ... If anybody, it's Deron who was the media darling after his sophomore season, but I'd expect him to fall out of favor this season.

deron was a media darling for the play-offs of his sophomore season, last season was all chris paul. you wouldnt have even noticed that the jazz had won two less game then the hornets, or that deron average 19 and 10 if you weren't a basketball enthusiast. he received a 1/4 of the attention paul received.

i'm not sure how much basketball you follow, but paul was the mvp candidate. not deron.

also, im not calling paul a flashy player, but his style of play is flashier and more high-lite friendly than williams'.

also

i don't know how much deron you've watch, moremilk, but i would love to hear why he'll fall out of favor.

I don't think he's watched enough Chris Paul to know he's more like Isiah Thomas then Steve Nash with better quickness and defense.

Im with tuggle on Deron, he is the best in the league and i think when its all said and done will be viewed as better then CP3, he has a deadly jump shot, he can take people out 1 on 1, he can post you up and he can shutdown almost any PG in the game if he is really on, he is only getting better. Perhaps not as flashy or media friendly as CP3 or Nash, but i'd take him over either if i had a pick now, or even all of them in their prime (altho i dont think we have seen Deron or CP3s prime yet, which is what makes them that much scarier then Nash, they will only get better).

Paul almost got the MVP because he did stuff few (if any) other point guards have done in the history of the league. But even deep into the season, there were lots of media people on Deron's bandwagon, only towards the last 2 months did Paul start to take over.

And you did call Paul a flashy player, but that's ok, I understand what you mean. And I agree that he's more fun to watch than Deron, but the key is that he's not doing it for the flash (like Arenas or Kobe), it's just a result of his ability to do extraordinary things. Steve Nash is also very flashy, some of the things he does are amazing - how many times did you hear the tv guys saying that "he looks like he has eyes behind his back" etc. But, as Paul, Nash is not throwing those passes because they are flashy, but because they are the best solution for that particular moment.

When it comes to watching, I pretty much saw all their playoff games (and the the ones against the Raptors of course), and what Paul did against Dallas and San Antonio was extraordinary. He made bowen look like a rookie, and it got to the point where Popovich had to concede and put Parker on him, because it wouldn't have made any difference anyway (at least bowen could annihilate Stojakovic).

And, finally, Deron was never in my favor, I always thought he is overrated. He's a great point guard, don't get me wrong, but he's more Jose Calderon than Chris Paul. He will be a very good player for the rest of his career, maybe even get into the hall of fame. But Paul right now looks like a candidate for best point guard ever to me. Different league.

Maybe in the history of last season.

I'm curious. When did you start watching basketball?

"Shooting" PGs:

1. Baron Davis
2. Gilbert Arenas
Chauncy and Tony play the point as well as any of those guys.

Parker is overrated, you switch teams and he would be a decent PG but not in the top 3.
