I'm not sure if I would put LA all that high considering they only added Artest and they were already phenomenal to start off with.
My list would be.
1)Spurs (RJ may be the missing piece)
2) Raptors (Hedo, DD, Jack, Belinelli, Wright, and Bargnani flowing with confidence after that 50 million guarantee of belief in him.
3) Celtics (Rasheed is an upgrade from Scalabrine and KG will be back with the team as well
4) Pistons (adding a few big names and losing AI,)
5) Magic (I'm not convinced that Vince is a huge upgrade from Hedo)

^^^^ Pistons in the top 5 makes no sense. They're worse then last season.

We'll see if they're worse than last season. So you're saying that Detroit won't make the playoffs this season? If they finish in 7th in the East, they're an improved squad from last year. Charlie V and Ben Gordon are an improvement from Rasheed Wallace and Allen Iverson, yes Iverson is that much of a detrimental force to make that possible. Anyways, it's my take and if you don't agree, you simply have another view.

Detroit has some nice names on paper but they are going to get destroyed inside. All the aforementioned teams save maybe Washington will do that to them.

Not only that the players they went out and overpayed for are awful on defence when this team has always been one of the better defensive teams in the league. They'll be lucky to squeeze their asses into 8th place. But i would say that even Chicago could be ahead of them.

If that occurs, I'll be the first one here admitting I was wrong. It's not like I hold any allegiances with The Pistons anyways. They're only slightly preferred over other East teams due to their proximity to Canada.

Washington over Detroit? Really? Why, because of Mike Miller and the "apparent" return of Gilbert Arenas? Not sure I agree with that either.

I predict that Washington will be in the 4-6 mix with us.

Yeah Washington is tough to call. I'm not sure if they'll make the playoffs but I'd put their chances higher than Detroit's imo. As jeffb mentioned Chicago should still be in the mix as well (and they don't even have Boozer yet :P).

In my opinion, the top 5 moves should be

1) Spurs
2) Raptors - i think our picking up hedo hurts the magic more than them gaining VC ever will
3) Magic
4) Nuggets
5) Bobcats

i hope we can prove a lot of "experts" wrong this season, we sure have a much better stocked tool shed!

Then why do you have them third?

Because they kept Görtat?

The Clippers deserve to be on the list. They got rid of Randolph(huge contract, totally head case) and drafted Blake Griffin. That alone is going to be huge.

clippers should make the playoffs easily based on talent. They have one of the best front courts in the league in terms of individual talent and their backcourt is not too shabby either ... But you know they will find a way to screw it up, there's a reason they are the laughinstock of the league.

Spurs are definitely the most improved team. Additions of RJ, DeJuan Blair, Jack McClinton, Theo Ratliff and

After that, I'd give it to the Cavs or the Magic. Cavs getting Shaq will give them a good inside post presence which is something they really needed. They get that perimeter defender in Parker and Moon can provide decent minutes off the bench. As for the Magic, they replace Turkoglu with Vince Carter, they add Brandon Bass who can either start for them or come off the bench and they re-signed Gortat who improved tremendously last season.

And then I'd put LA, Dallas and Toronto. Considering the fact that the Lakers basically stayed with what they had from the championship squad by re-signing Odom. Only difference is they get better with switching up Ariza with Artest. Then you get Dallas who re-signed Kidd and added some talented veterans with Marion, Gooden and Tim Thomas and Beaubois is a good draft pick. And then you got Toronto.

I wouldn't say Toronto had the best offseason in the NBA but I'll give credit where credit is due, BC pulled off some really good moves which at least warrants him to be one of the best GMs in the business.
