Chad Ford: (1:42 PM ET ) I'd consider trading Bosh if I was convinced he was bolting, no matter what, in the summer of 2010. I think the chances are very good that Bosh leaves, so yes ... I'd see what I could get. As good as Bosh is, his looming free agency makes him a little tougher to move. Teams won't want to give up everything for a guy who could bolt soon and they need to keep enough good players in tact to convince Bosh to stay. Obviously just about every team in the league would love a shot at him. But I think the Raptors would have to settle for ... cap space, lottery picks, a few young players and maybe one good vet. Though a Josh Smith and Marvin Williams for Bosh move could be something interesting for Toronto and Atlanta.

Chad Ford: (1:12 PM ET ) I think it's a great deal for the Raptors. They get Marion, who is healthy and a better fit, and they get lots of cap relief in the summer. Not so sure about the Heat. O'Neal just can't stay healthy and his contract adds another $20 million plus burden on their payroll next year. Not sure why Riley is going this route. There's a reason that the Raptors, a lottery team, are trying to dump him. If he was healthy? Sure. But who believes he'll stay healthy for the next year and a half?

I wouldn't mind that trade either. Just throw in a couple of picks and I am all for it. The only bad thing is that Williams is a FA next year

Hmm... it's interesting that the 'trade Bosh' talk is creeping into the media and press. It won't happen unless it's made clear he wants out, but we'll see.

My stance on the issue remains the same... if Bosh leaves we're gonna be in the same position we'd be in now if we traded him, just a year later, with maybe a B level star like Smith or Alderidge in return for him. In the long run the difference between going back to the lottery building around Calderon-Smith-Bargnani and Calderon-whatever we get this summer-Bargnani is not big enough to outweigh the chance we keep Bosh and have a lethal dominant frontcourt for the next 10 years.

+1. I think Ford just made a lot of fans in Atlanta very pissed off. I would take this deal and RUN.

Its not a bad deal for Bosh but really if we're trading with ATL I think we have to demand Johnson. We'd have a fantastic frontcourt with that trade but we'd still have that big hole come crunchtime in the backcourt. If we're going to trade a player of Boshs ilk we better be getting a fellow franchise type guy back IMO. Minnesota did.

yup.
but JJ is a FA the same time as Bosh, so we wouldnt really be doing anything to protect ourselves come 2010.

Sign and trade in 2010. They should have to include a 1st or something with JJ though.

nah... gimme Smith and Williams now dammit!
but willaims would HAVE to be re-signed.
from there we'd just draft or grab a legitimate scorer FA and we'd be set!

that's a fantastic trade for us, but I don't think Atlanta would go for it.
