Ford Wants To Remain A Raptor Along With Jose Too

Apparently Eric discussed this one the radio today on FAN590 after a quote from TJ today at practice. :confused2:

Benzo, contact Eric to confirm please or at least redirect him here. ;)

As per some dude from the RealGM:

What else can Ford say really?
He was the receipant of a nice gesture from Jose.

It's all media talk, talk it with a truck load of salt :)

...BUT if Jose is going to get mega praise for saying the right things, Saint TJ should as well :D

Sounds kind of gay when you put it like that. :mischief:

Actually, it's nice that TJ said that.

Don't worry SWAN, i don't think i'm "reading" anything more into the comment than intended.

But when players say good things about other players, it ultimately has a positive effect on everyone involved.

Suddenly i am thinking the ship is not sinking anymore and we should be in for a nice final stretch.

It's good for team unity. Why analyze it? Why not just take it for what it's worth?

" Ford Wants To Remain A Raptor Along With Jose Too " I think you forgot to mention the "only if I remain the starter of this team" part of it. This was part of the interview after practice (got it from the Globe and Mail)

Quote:

"Can he even picture himself coming off the bench over the final three years of his contract with the Raptors?

"No. Not till the end of my career," the 25-year-old said after practice yesterday. "That's who I am right now. That's where I'm at.

"In the NBA, I think I'm a starter. I don't think I'm a guy that comes off the bench and plays limited minutes. I don't think that's my style."
Here's more:

Quote:

Asked whether he could imagine a future playing 24 minutes a game, or some version of that, for 82 regular-season games, Ford was again pretty clear.

"No," he said. "This year was a different scenario, because I was hurt and I was out. But if that didn't happen, I was showing I was one of the best guards in the east at the time."
Obviously, this 2 PG thing is not going to work. Not unless Jose would be backup all the time. And I don't think anyone thinks that Calderon is a just a mere backup PG.

normal sports say what is expected of u to say, i dont get why ppl get all happy when some1 says "everything is great, im happy for my team, we taking it one game at a time" blah blah blah, only really ignorant players with the same selfishness of Me-Jay (like TO in football) give u the truth and say, this is bullshit, im a star!!

Good riddance Jose, It was nice to see you evolve through my eyes, well done and I hope you go to a team that will respect you and your skills.

Krazy Ivan 03-28-2008 12:34 PM

Translation from TJ speak:"I'll be happy as long as Spaniard comes off the bench."

WOW ... you're totally overreacting Iggy ..... Jose isn't going anywhere, so fret not my friend. He will be in a Raptors uniform for years to come. Book it :)

That Jose will be a Raptor next year is undoubtable. The way I see this, Bryan will try hard to move TJ this summer, and I think he wil succeed). If he doesn't, then TJ will remain the starter next season, and Bryan will continue to try trading him the whole year. If TJ doesn't get injured and starts playing better, his stock will improve a lot. Obviously, there still are people who think he is better than Jose, and even if they are a huge minority, all it takes is one GM to be in that camp ...

If TJ still can't be traded after the next season, I would think they would give Jose the starting job and tell TJ to behave, and because TJ is going to approach the end of his contract, he should be more willing to cough it up.
