Raptors Ford: Indiana, Utah made a mistake by passing on Ed Davis

Have you caught any of Ed Davis's performances yet? For a guy who basically hasn't played in a year, he's looked really good in limited minutes -- and his defensive stats with Amir Johnson are off the charts. Do you think he could be a steal at 13 for the Raptors?

Chad Ford (1:11 PM)

He was considered a potential NO. 1 pick before last season. A so-so year at North Carolina, combined with a rep that he got from his coaches as just a kid with a so-so work ethic caused his stock to drop. At 13, I thought he was a steal and I still think that both Utah and Indy probably made a mistake passing on him. We'll see. But the early returns are positive.

I dunno about that. Davis wouldn't fit in Utah with Millsap and Jefferson there to play the front court, and Indy got a heck of a player in Paul George. But I like what I've seen from Ed. Not going to get recognition for ROY, but a solid player.

Yeah, I remember he was projected to be a top-5 pick before he got injured and after his first year. Pretty cool we got him.

He played his first two games but last night against the knicks he was brutal. His free throw shooting and early injury problems do concern me though. I mean he missed most of his sophomore year in north carolina and has already had a serious knee injury this year i just hope hes not the next greg oden

Missing a couple of key games and playing time, he does have limited development. But now that he's here and playing with us, he can develop, and he's developing fast. Free throws will come once he's in shape and gets more practices in. As far as yesterday, he wasn't really brutal. Guarding amare, a top PF, is a lot to handle for a rookie especially coming off from an injury.

Dude RF members can only judge a player off ONE game. Don't break that rule...

Bargnani is still king tonight until he only scores 16 tomorrow. Then the hate threads will reemerge.
