Hmmm ... Indy fans are already talking about Ford as their saviour. :face4:

I hope the best for T.J., but I wonder how long before they feel some of our pain. ;)

the_ raps_analyst 07-17-2008 10:30 AM

indy needs a guy like him thats going to take more shots even if its not good for the team becasue they have granger and dunleyvy. I dont think other players on that team can produce much.

Superjudge 07-17-2008 11:04 AM

Ford will make them much stronger guys, honestly.

Ex2k 07-17-2008 12:42 PM

LOL!

i cant waittttttttttt to see ford run up the floor at full speed and trip and turn the ball over.... OR

run up the floor and instead of passing first... JACK UP A BRICK...

i am also looking forward at the caldy vs ford matchup this season when raps and pacers face each other :D

Snooch 07-17-2008 12:45 PM

I just hope JO doesn't put him on his back.

fancylad 07-17-2008 01:00 PM

Like SJ said, Ford will be great for Indy. they're rebuilding and he's a great young PG. Moreover, he really improved his shot last season to the point where i was quite confident in him taking it. Indy fans will love his heart and aggresiveness.

I hope he does well for himself.

A lot of you are talking as though TJ is Tyronn Lue or something.

He's an above average NBA point guard.

Indy ran Jamaal Tinsley at the point last year...it's a real nice upgrade for them.

I argree... and Calderon is a fantastic upgrade for us as the starting point...

I havent been on these boards for long, but didnt you guys get sick of the terrible out of control turn overs and jacked up shots without running any type of play from TJ FORD get to you?.

During the mid season when Calderon ran the point while TJ was out was just a fantastic time for a raptors fan... we were winning games and Calderon proved he could run the point as a starter in this leauge....

When TJ came back we went downhill... and It has left a sour taste in my mouth since then and it's just not going away... I dont know what it is but i just cant take any type of TJ news, or TJ interviews, or anything TJ (MEE-JAY) anymore...

He's gone, lets stop these TJ threads, and save them for "CALDERON VS FORD" when raps and indy face off next season... cuz you know its going to be a big game.

Adequate Swag 07-17-2008 02:36 PM

I never said Calderon wasn't an upgrade.

I never said I was a fan of the way TJ played last year.

But if you're an Indiana fan...why wouldn't you be optimistic? He's far better than what they've got.

Most teams in the NBA would take TJ gladly. Just because we had an excess of riches at the pg spot doesn't mean TJ Ford isn't a great addition to a team with a weak pg.

And if you don't like reading about TJ Ford, don't click on a thread title called "Ford in Indiana article" Because, you know, it's gonna be about TJ most of the time.

Superjudge 07-17-2008 02:39 PM

I'm pretty sure not a soul here said we wanted him back, just saying he isn't bad and will help in Indy my friend.

That is all.

tinsley is actually a very competent point guard, the problem with him is that he's injured half the season and in court the other half ... TJ doesn't seem to be the kind of guy to have issues with the law, but the likelihood of him being injured is pretty high. And don't forget that they're losing O'Neal, which is going to be a huge blow for them. Without O'Neal they are pretty much a team with no offensive production in the front-court. Rasho and Foster are both solid defenders with limited offensive skills.

The MVP of West Hollywood 07-17-2008 08:59 PM

TJ won't have as many problems when he's the definitive #1 PG. The only time his Me-J got really bad was when he came off the bench and was like "Oh no you DIDYANT!"

they wont feel it unless ford takes another hard fall.
theres nothing wrong with his character, hes a great guy, so nothing to worry about other then his health

Apollo 07-17-2008 11:52 PM

TJ will be a great fit and if he can stay healthy he'll make a huge impact there.

Ugo Ferst 07-20-2008 08:39 PM

Well, it seems im in the huge minority here, but i think its crazy to say you cant wait til Caldy and Ford match up... i mean individually, Ford will break down Caldy at will, get any shot he wants and blow by him constantly. Ppl seem to always 4get Ford is actually the younger of the 2 and has a ton of room to grow, not saying he will be a better pass 1st PG then Caldy, or better all around, but he is far from a bum.

He's quicker than Calderon, but also turns the ball over more often,Plays out of control,is more selfish (IMO),and doesn't shoot as good a percentage. I like Ford, he's far from a bum (agreed) but we chose correctly IMO.Calderon plays more controled, smarter, team first basketball.

Jose is the better player now and will probably be the better player 5 years from now. In any case, TJ's main issue was not his skills, but his health. Even if TJ becomes a better player in the future, I'd still be happy with Jose, because he's more reliable. With TJ, a hard foul is all it takes to take him out of the game. I'm sure that once we'd get in very meaningful games, the opposing team will start taking advantage. I mean look what the Wizards did to Lebron - Ford would be dead if he'd get that kind of abuse.

Major 07-20-2008 11:33 PM

I don't like some of the criticism going on here about TJ. I hope him the best in Indy....I really do. I would hate to see him lose his touch and start to suck over there.

LX 07-21-2008 11:32 AM

If TJ was so awful and incompetent, how come he was able to make Rasho into a ~20 pt guy fairly often, while Jose made Rasho into a DNP fairly often? TJ was hardly the beginning-middle-and-end of the pain last season. I remember some pretty ugly losses when he wasn't in the lineup, and some wins that he pulled out when Bosh was out or not 100 percent. The only problem with TJ was that between him and Calderon, it got difficult to build a team around the two of them. Now the team has committed to Jose, and they have also committed to building a team that works well specifically with Jose, instead of having too many guys that could be plugged into the lineup in too many ways with too many varying results.
