Ford for Gerald Wallace was on the table

Apparantley it only broke down because Charlotte didn't want to give up a second rounder

Would you have rather had this or the JO one? I'm a fan of the O'Neal move, but having Wallace would've been really nice too as a scoring wing and excellent defender.

Superjudge 06-27-2008 06:31 PM

Wallace is nice, but ya gotta understand, the gamble is the gamble.

Period.

Toronto didn't pick up JO because he might be ok, the gamble is that he will be close to 100%, if he is not, it's a failure and they fall back on the cap relief for 2010.

But if he is what he can be, you can't even compare the two, Oneal is a MVP type guy healthy, and he plugs a MASSIVE hole for toronto. Wallace can score, but he aint a 7 foot beast in the paint.

Gurk 06-27-2008 06:34 PM

I would rather have JO a beast in the paint and relieves Bosh of scoring a lot.

Torontosaurus 06-27-2008 11:51 PM

Would've been weird for Gerald Wallace and Moon to be team-mates considering their shared past...

Kuzzy 06-28-2008 03:17 AM

who cares if its weird, GWs a lock down perimeter defender, thats something we need.
Bargnani can still start, GW will help us on both ends, and Moon can create some Moonshine off the bench:)
Instead of making your 1st overall pick come off the bench in his 3rd year

The MVP of West Hollywood 06-28-2008 04:28 AM

Plus we'd still have Rasho's expiring to give us some flexibility next year. I'm not sure if we'd be throwing in the #17, I'm pretty sure we would considering Wallace is better than Diaw and Maggette, but anyways

He's also just 25... so we'd have lots of time with him. I'd have done it, we wouldn't be contenders or anything right away but we'd have a nice young core to continue to build around the next couple years. We'd probably be one defensive center away from making some noise.

Um.

Don't look, but there's an Allstar center, with grat Defensive skills on his way to Toronto right now. And my friend, they are on ehell of a lot harder to come across than a decent Guard.

It's pretty much common knowledge that decent and capable guards are a dime a dozen in the NBA, and put in a good situation, most will do what they do best. The tought spots to fill are one, and five. You have now an allstr in each spot.

Not happy?

Which is great. The ting is we need a wing player with that centre! And if you can get that wing player (Wallace) without giving up as much with a cheaper contract at 9Mil and keep your pick (#17) it becomes very interesting. I don't think it really matters as long as one of the two positions is filled.

Gurk 06-28-2008 11:09 AM

But the thing is that JO has a two year deal while GW has a 3 year deal and because Chris Bosh is a FA in two years raps will have enough money to sign him with 44 mil coming of the cap

Major 06-28-2008 11:21 AM

I would rather have JO.

And who cares anyway, he's already gone.

In two years Wallace will only have 2 years remaining at only 10 Million. Not a bad contract if you want to keep it and easy to move if need be.

*Takes in air*
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I would've loved Wallace but then..Moon and Wallace play kind of the same game no?
Also. WE'VE LANDED JERMAINE O'NEAL@!

Kuzzy 06-29-2008 02:36 AM

yeah we've landed j.o and clogged cap space for the remaining years of his contract?
bc says hes keeping bargnani, so now what?
you think were going all the way with j.o and cb?
its all hype boys
im just hoping the bigman fails his physical

SparkPlug 06-29-2008 03:42 AM

Jermaine O'Neal IS coming. Just accept it and embrace it. It was a great deal anyways IMO.
