Raptors First Quarters

Road trip so far:

@Sac we gave up 30pts
@ Utah we gave up 27pts
@ Portland we gave up 31pts
@ Denver we gave up 25pts

^ Giving up an average of 28pts in the first quarter. This team is starting to get into a habbit of getting to awful starts and appearing to think they can turn it on late in games and come back to win games. I really hope this trend doesn't continue.

Not only are we giving up a lot of first quart points, but we are also struggling and not scoring in the first quarter of games

Agreed, they look drained. Just hope we can take care of business next week at home and go into the break in a good position (28-24?)

pretty easy answer, amir is hurt and we're playing JV and Demar heavy minutes together

Amir has been a non factor most nights for over a month. So that's not exactly why.

It's frustrating because they've proven that they can really turn up the D when they need to. Would be if it wasn't just in desperate times.

Lowry is not 100 percent either, and needs to pace himself at this point. He knows he can make it through a quarter going all out on both ends

Amir is definitely a recent factor. He has played extremely empty minutes to start games. Last night wasn't so bad, but then the whistles blew, which has probably been what he has been trying to avoid at other times.

The shooting has been off, again maybe due to tired legs and aches and pains. That has hurt with some transition.

There have been a lot of second chance points. Guys are just not as quick to the ball as they have been in the past.

If the problems persist past the break, then there is something to worry about. But i think the bulk of it, as is the case all over the league, is just the need for a good rest.

Can't just put blame on a select few. There hasn't been one player over this road trip that has come out from the start and given 100% effort on both sides of the floor. I give the Raps credit for picking up their play in the last quarter or so in these road games, but we should never be in that position in the first place. Once the game starts everyone should be going all out.
