Default Fire Jay Triano

If Sam couldn't turn around this team, I don't see Triano doing much better. We need a coach who impose respect and hope to improve Raptors strategy. I don't believe Triano is good enough to be the head coach for Raptors more than a week.

BC, find someone good quickly ... we don't have time to waste.

WOW ... he hasn't even started his tenure and you already want him gone.

Again like we said time and time again, with the exception of a couple good players, its tough to turn water into wine. Bottom line is that this team has too many voids to fill and if people want to lay blame on anyone right now, point fingers to Colangelo. He helped get us into this mess, time to see what he can really do in a time of crisis.

We need a real coach ... that's all I am saying. We can't waste our time or Bosh is as good as gone in 2010. Triano lost his job as head coach of Canadian National team against Leo?!?!?! He is a good assistant coach but for head coach he doesn't have the guts to keep players under control.

LOL, I do believe the title post was made tongue-in-cheek.

Regardless, even though Triano will get his chance, it's more than likely that BC already has his guy in sights. Co-incidentally, Messina's contract expires at the end of this season...

He will be the next head coach, and Triano the lead assistant again.

TO perfect fit for Messina, Messina perfect fit for Toronto.

Exactly, he's only really the interim head coach. Big picture guys, big picture.

I always felt that BC would keep Sam until Raptors would be ready to move to next level with a different coach. But firing Sam and name Triano as head coach for the rest of season is just not right. I would like to see a new coach by end of this year, to start to implement new strategies and eventually compete for the next year. With Triano, it looks more like we are tanking this season already and start over only in summer.

Saying this, BC made a mistake, either he kept Sam too much, either he fired Sam too soon. He was suppose to have already a new good coach to replace Sam, not to choose to go for almost one season with an interim head coach! I feel bad for season tickets owners.

The thing is a top level coach usually doesn't sign up with a team mid season. The coaches high in demand will wait untill the summer so a bidding war can be created.

Also, I can't believe I contributed to such a lame thread

Well, what's he done so far? He's only got a 500 record. And, worse, he hasn't even won a game!

All joking aside, I do think that the raps need to hire someone before the year is up...

And, snooch, you can suck my big toe.

I won't call your messages contribution at all. But that's just me.

What is so wrong to not like the new coach even before he started?

Well, contribute then insight. You haven't said why Triano wouldn't be a good coach other than him losing his job with the National team which I believe had nothing to do with performance and more to do with internal differences.

1. Triano doesn't have experience as NBA head coach ...
2. And most important he was named interim head coach

If there is no long term plan, I don't like the idea of having a season of waiting to see what available next June since we are only in December. I expected that all point of firing Sam was to bring someone experimented enough to start something that could make us much better at least for next season. If we hire a new coach only in summer, there is going to be again a period of accommodation staring next season ... that's very risky.

Sounds like you were talking about Mike Dantoni with those two points (cant call a garbage lockout season with bad team experience really)

Like in my other post, I just want to point out again that BC made it clear he is giving Triano a chance, and includes reference to the Dantoni situation. Watch the interview on raptors.com, i dont know how it could be any clearer. Maybe its a lie, but it sounds genuine to me.

you guys might be suprised.

Triano is his own man, and a good employee, just because he was Sams assistant don't mean he's Sam. And NO great coach is born one, they gotta have thier first real success somplace.

Give him 5-10 games, ya never know.

Albeit, JT doesn't have any NBA coaching experience, but he does have International coaching experience, and at a high level. He's a player's coach - an example of that is Steve Nash refusing to play for Leo Rautins.

But at the same time, how you gonna fire the dude when he hasn't even started the tenure as bench boss. If Triano works out, then great, Colangelo might not have to go out and search for a new coach. If it doesn't work out, then you go back to the drawing board and start the interview process with other candidates, but give the guy a chance.

nash refused to play for leo, just like he did for triano when the suns said that they weren't going to allow him to play during the summer since he'd continuously burn-out in the playoff. on another note, the big dummy magloire wouldn't play for team canada because of triano.

triano isn't here for a chance anyways. he's there to fill the gap until BC gets his man. the common fan will support the decision because he's a canadian basketball icon. great PR MLSE. another step towards securing mediocre for years to come!
